You gotta love these guys! I work as a yacht technician and find myself on parts runs here all the time. The staff is super helpful and personable. They know their stuff! Unlike some other marine parts stores that have "non boaters" as staff. Also for the size of the store, the selection is very impressive.

I am a professional Yacht management firm with 30+ years on Shelter Island. Some one -Per S from Cave Creek used my account with out authorization and wrote a terrible review. Lets be clear they made a mistake, tried to do an install with the wrong equipment, then tried to return it. I have been dealing with SDMX since the late 80's and they are #1 in my book. Customer service and pricing terms etc. are unsurpassed by anyone in the industry. It's unfortunate some one used my account then talked trash. IT IS THE FURTHEST FROM THE TRUTH Feel free to call me with any questions or concerns

Always a great place to get materials and or advice. Intelligent mostly experienced staff, and lots of options as far as parts and materials. If you need a pro opinion, Dan is the man to talk to, and if you need a pretty face to make your day better, see Jessica and Nana at the desk.
Also have good commercial acct options.

This place is always helpful with knowledgeable staff willing to help you with your needs. They have 80% of what you need for your boat. Parking can be tight sometimes. There can be a wait to be helped. When it's your turn, you get focused attention. Truly worth the wait! I've only given 5 stars to maybe 5 or 6 businesses ever. This is top 3 businesses I've had the pleasure of working with.

What's the point about writing a 5 star review when all of the previous ones give it top marks???
Because I love going in there. A few days ago I came in (after being away for at least a year, and one of the employees saw me and said, "Hi Thelma," like it had been yesterday. I was so embarrassed that I had forgotten her name that I asked Dan (I could see his name engraved on his shirt) at the front counter, and he told me). Dan said he'd been with Downwind Marine (the other name for the same company) for 27 years and still loved going to work. The people are all terrific

Went there today...stood around what seemed like forever, waiting for service. I saw lots of SDME t-shirts, but zero help. There began a line behind me and the counter help acted oblivious. Finally I gave up. The drive there (and back) was a waste of time. I ended up ordering the part online. I obviously would have preferred to shop locally, but they didn't care to provide any service. Very disappointing. (This wasn't the first time I had bad service there).

San Diego Marine Exchange www.sandiegomarine.com
Grat place to find anything you can imagine for marine life.
I have an account here because I used to dive and clean boat hulls and this is y far the most stocked, cheapest, most convenient place for a diver to buy his brushes, sand papers, pads, etc.
Easy to get an account and it'll save you bunch of money.
