One of the few things that can be predicted about life is that nothing stays exactly the same forever and challenges are to be expected. Dr. Kress is an experienced licensed psychologist who listens with deep emotional regard and leading edge intellectual understanding of life issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, career changes and life adjustments.

She is trained to guide an effective process through these challenges and uncover strategies for healing and resolution. Dr. Kress specializes in teens and their families, cutting and other self-injurious behaviors, and women's issues; serving the individuals and the families that surround them.
Services
I am trained in many therapeutic methods such as psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral (DBT), humanistic, and existential therapy. I continually study and speak on current research topics, keeping my work refreshed and effective.

By blending a variety of techniques, I tailor my approach to the individual client, which allows me the flexibility to help each client work through issues in an active, comprehensive and results-oriented way.Therapy with me is collaborative, in an atmosphere of trust, and at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Life is so busy and overscheduled and most people don't have time to sit with, reflect and process their experiences and emotions. Unacknowledged feelings become trapped in the body and mind- leaving us to feel less alive and clear. Therapy is dedicated time just for you to feel, sift through, release, heal and grow.
Allison Kress is well known to us at S.A.F.E. ALTERNATIVES, as a clinician who has dedicated herself to the understanding and treatment of those who self-injure. We highly recommend her to anyone in need of such services. Dr. Kress truly goes above and beyond in helping people who are in need of therapy and her dedication to treating self-injurers never wavers.
Women have issues and lives that are specific to being female. While the many transitions that women go through can be joyous, they can also be quite challenging and stressful. I specialize in and am passionate about treating all aspects of women's emotional well-being and mental health.

I have training in numerous approaches to assist women during times of transition and stress, including psychotherapy, psychoeducation, support groups, and alternative treatments.I will help you gain insight, self-awareness and strength because my role is to be your supporter, confidante, mentor, advice-giver.
As a leading expert on cutting and self-injurious behaviors, I have years of experience speaking to media, schools, universities, students, parent groups, agencies, and professional groups. I also provide consultations to professionals, parents, and the media on cutting and other self-injurious behaviors.

My daughter was a patient of Dr. Kress for appx one year. She was always extremely professional and compassionate. We were both so sad to see her go. She helped us get to the root of my daughter's troubles and we are forever grateful!

I highly recommend Alison! She is just amazing to work with. Friendly, compassionate and warm. She made me feel at ease right away. She always made herself available to me in case of questions or concerns and made me feel like a priority. When she relocated she gave me many wonderful referrals, but we still wish we had her back here!
