Actors Express
Actor's Express is a theatre that challenges and reflects contemporary human experiences in an inclusive environment. We seek to jumpstart individual transformations through the shared adventure of our live performances, which range from daringly provocative to audaciously hilarious. Actor's Express constantly develops new talent, pushes boundaries and encourages people to question their place in the world.

Our work creates emotional connections between audience and artist, catalyzing discussion on the complex issues of the contemporary human experience. We stay one step ahead of the conversation - our audiences expect to be challenged when they attend our programming. We firmly believe the relevance and vitality of the American theatre depends upon a continual infusion of new work and the nurturing of new playwrights.

Red Speedo is part thriller, part comedy, and part indictment of a scorched-earth modern America in which winning is valued at all costs - even if it means losing. The play is about being an outsider and what happens when corrosive secrets find their way into the light, asking the age old question if you really can go home again.
Actor's Express is located in West Midtown Atlanta. We're roughly off of Howell Mill. AE can be found inside The King Plow Arts Center, a commercial, performing/visual arts center, located on Marietta Street in the Marietta Street Artery district. King Plow is also a popular music venue for concerts and live music shows in Atlanta.
As a non-profit theatre organization, Actor's Express relies on the support of kind donors and enthusiastic ticket buyers. We recognize that we may not see you for some time, but we need you more than ever. Current events have had a profound impact on the lives of our talented artists and our incredible staff.

Excellent small Theater Company in Atlanta! The artistic director always selects the most interesting and leading-edge plays. The theater is kept spotlessly clean and they provide social distancing and they let the people in just a few at a time so that there's no crowding. They use the same procedure to exit so that people do not cluster together. They take covid very seriously. This is a safe place to go out and see a play

Actor's Express is perhaps the best local theatre company in Atlanta. We have been attending for 12 years and have been season subscribers for the past 7 years. While offering the classics, it is the new, non-traditional and edgy plays that we have come to appreciate the most. This past weekend we saw Fun Home, a Tony award winning musical that pushes the boundaries of the genre. It was wonderful and well done with an outstanding cast. Highly recommended!

We went to see Actor's Express Theater's newest production, Downstairs. The set, actors and location were all great and the story and acting were compelling. I enjoyed the intimacy of the venue and how close you can be to the stage. Friendly staff and quick drink service rounded out the experience!

I went to see Head Over Heels. This was my third time at the theater. The show had a lot of problems... but was enjoyable. One of the things that I found very off-putting, was that the light tech kept blowing his nose really loudly. This is a bit of an intimate space and it was very off-putting to try and watch the show while he kept blowing his nose nearby.

This is a nice little theater that has some interesting productions that often challenge the audience with new thoughts and ideas. Unfortunately, most seats are first-come first-served so be sure and arrive early if sitting close is important to you. They offer beer and wine at the concession stand right before entering as well.

Actor's Express is one of the fines theaters companies in the Atlanta area. They continually do innovate work with a great range. Examples range from well done comedies like "The Importance of Being Earnest'" to deeply moving works like "Angels in America" and a musical version of "Kiss of the Spider Woman". They even nailed "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." I have had seasons tickets for more than a decade and plan to continue to continue for many decades more.

Attended Head over Heels last night and Actors Express does not disappoint once again. I did have a little difficulty with the olde English speaking but I understood the gist in parts. Had dinner at Donnetos Italian restaurant around the corner on Brady beforehand. Great too! Peyton was Basilius this night in the play and he did a terrific job.

I saw The Color Purple last night at the theatre that I can only describe as, just so cool. You will fall in love with this venue. The play was top notch. The quality of acting and singing, I can only say I just saw Hamilton and it was that good. The whole experience was a masterpiece.

This is a wonderful venue. I loved how intimate the space for a performance. I saw the show "The Color People" and the performance was top notch! The production was as professional as anything that I have seen on Broadway. Being in a venue that allows you to be so close to the action gives you a feeling that you are a part of the play. I was blown away and will definitely return to see other productions in this venue!

I saw A Dolls House part 2. It was a small venue and a small cast but overall I was impressed with the show. I had never been before and I was impressed by the quality of show and actors. You do have to pay for parking though their is a flat discounted rate. I loved the whole experience and look forward to returning.

Truly Amazing sets. Always perfect casting. Very interesting originals, as well as spectacular musicals. Local theater has never been so professional, yet personal. I've seen over 15 plays here in the last few years and never been disappointed. It's open seating, but there's never a bad seat in the house.

Very small venue, very professional performances. I saw Company in 2017 and Little Shop of Horrors and absolutely loved both performances. Seating is first come, first serve so make sure you give yourself time if you don't want to be in the back. But the space is really so small that there's not a bad seat in the house.

Don't leave during intermissions. No bells or warning signs when they close the doors, and then your left sitting outside.

I found discounted tickets to a production through a 3rd party and decided to pay a visit. I'm not familiar with the area, so I did miss the turn at first, but quickly found my way back. I was greeted by the friendly guy at the box office and walked in literally within two minutes as my reservation was easily located.
There is beer, wine and small snacks, which you can take in to the show. Inside the theater there is no assigned seating, but it's a very intimate space (like a box theater) so there really isn't a bad seat.
I definitely enjoyed the show and will come back with some

I've seen 3 shows here. Each one gave me a different experience. I'll admit I love small venues so I may be biased. But if you enjoy shows at the fox for $100's of dollars you should give actors express a chance and have a nice dinner out for the money you save.

The show quality was great. The prices are reasonable and there is lots of parking. There is a really edgy quality to the shows and they are very well done. The heart of this theater is evident and it is a great place to see new world as well as some established shows. Their location is eclectic and the type of place I'd love to sit and draw. Drinks can be bought at intermission which is nice.

RENT was remarkable. Sound, staging, theatre, music, production...over the top. I felt as though the artists were performing for me in my living room. Outstanding.
I'll see it again.

We saw Rent last night! Wow!! What a fabulous re-creation of a musical I love! Have not been to many Broadway Shows in NYC but did manage to see Rent twice back in the day! I loved Angel, Mimi. Maureen, Tom Collins. Roger & Marc! The only reason for 3 stars is the facility... Oh my goodness.. So dang hot in that room I was really uncomfortable . Please Actors Express... AC upgrade? Thanks & see you in the fall!

In love.

That is how I feel about Actor's Express. I have seen at least 7 productions here in the past few years. The theatre space is quite small, but they truly make the most of it. The plays can be a bit strange and are often edgy. This isn't your grandma's theatre company, unless your grandma is super hip - in which case, bring her.

The quality of the acting and the productions is very high for a relatively low-budget theatre company. It is a professional company (meaning the actors are paid), and has been around since 1988. They do dramas, comedies, classics, new works, musicals

Every time I visit this city my mom manages to get me a ticket and urges me to go -- it's the not-your-Broadway-type but well put together and managed. I always smile when the assistant director-slash-snackbar guy comes out with this huge smile and announces. Very sweet personalities here.

I recently saw a play at the Actor's Express. The play was good, but this review is about the venue. Actor's Express is located in the King Plow Arts Center, a little arty complex which was converted from buildings of the old King Plow Co. factory. The center houses a variety of tenants including Actor's Express. While there for the show, I didn't get much of an opportunity to walk around, but the space is pretty unique and funky looking.

The theater itself only holds about 100 people creating an intimate theater experience. The theater company of the same name puts on a variety

Great little theatre- I came here for the musical "See what I Wanna See", which was a good production of the original off-Broadway hit. It was adapted well to the small space in their theater, and the acting troupe was eager to attack the material.

The specs- for this particular production, the seats (quite comfortable, by the way) were arranged in a U around a small stage, with the sound/music band seated in a booth like structure at the back of the stage. It was easy to find the theatre right on W Marietta St- there's plenty of parking in the large lot outside the entrance,

A greate, intimate live theatre venue. Right in Midtown (near Georgia Tech) and close to many dining options.

Great place to take a date for some culture.

Soft drinks, coffee, wine and beer are all available during intermissions and you can take them back into the remainder of the show with you.

I went to the "Good Boys and True" show and found it quite good.
