Pizzeria Stella
Pizzeria Stella combines the unpretentious warmth of a neighborhood restaurant with the spirit of an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria. A cozy, casual dining area, complete with cafe windows peering out onto Society Hill's historic Headhouse Square, is the perfect stage for our wood-burning oven, which skilled pizzaioli use to bake pies at temperatures as high as 850 degrees.

Decadent pizza made with only the freshest ingredients is our specialty, but the menu extends beyond the pie to include antipasti, salads, pasta and a smart selection of Italian beer, wine and cocktails. If you would like to receive special updates directly from your favorite STARR Restaurants in the PHILADELPHIA market, just make sure they're selected and hit SUBMIT!

While staying at a hotel nearby, we ordered some pizzas through Doordash. We got a margherita pizza and a spinach pizza. Both were wonderful! We also got an order of marinated olives. Citrus and garlicky and not overly oily. Yum! The highlight of the pizzas was definitely the crust. It was perfect. The Margherita pizzas was delightful but had a couple slices that were unbearably salty for some bizarre reason. The spinach pizza was very good! They're large personal pizzas and aren't very heavy so keep that in mind when ordering!

Full disclosure: Pizzeria Stella wasn't my destination when I set out for dinner in the neighborhood just across I-95 from Penn's Landing. Even fuller disclosure, I'm overjoyed that I "stumbled" upon this dining gem.
April guided me through the menu, as it was my first venture into this stellar joint; she made several recommendations, answered my questions with confidence, and ensured that my entire visit was thoroughly enjoyable.
I started with the Romaine salad (minus the cherry tomato & mint), which was dressed with a house vinaigrette and ricotta salata that has to be tasted to be believed

Always a great pizza. Highly recommend the tartufo pizza. Of course it is much better in person but take out was still pretty good.

I was looking for an Italian experience and I had one. The pizza was incredibly nice, nice toppings and perfect dough, and their beer list has some pretty good Italian beers. The gelato was also nice! Great atmosphere as well.

Fantastic service, pizza, and drinks!!

Staff was super helpful and friendly. We came on a Sunday evening and were told it would be a 30 min wait for a group of 10, but we only ended up having to wait 10 minutes.

The pizzas are a great sharing size for 2-3 people and you really can't go wrong with any of the options. We got the 'Nduja and Pepperoni pizzas, which were absolutely delicious. Their drinks were also well-made - sweet but still strong enough!

It was my friend's birthday, so they also brought out ice cream with a candle in it. The ice cream was creamy and tasty and

Well worth a visit. Wood fired pizzas are the way to go. Also ordered the meatballs and broccoli rabe, both of which were excellent. A little pricey, sure, but it was money well spent. Wait staff was very attentive and on top of their game. Going to try their pasta dishes next time around.

We ordered 3 pizzas for takeout from Pizzeria Stella. Perhaps we can come back one day to eat in the restaurant, but unfortunately I had to bring it home so the food may have gotten a bit colder than usual. Still, the pizzas were pretty solid. We ordered the margherita, the pepperoni, and the tartufo pizza. All three were very solid; the pizza wasn't super crispy but seemed more authentic Italian (could also be due to having it for takeout). The tartufo pizza smelled amazing with the black truffle!

Pizza is very very thin. They only have 1 size and it is a 12 inch. They recommend 1 pizza per person at 15.00 per pizza. While it tasted good, it wasnt worth 15.00 and it is wood fired, so it is burnt and charcoal crusty. If you like charcoal flavoring, this pizza is for you. I would recommend eating somewhere else but you cant beat the atmosphere.

Had the Octopus Arrabiata, some pasta ball in marinara and Nduja pizza.
Octopus was great, beautiful and delicious. It was prob fried but tender, pairs nicely with all the tomatoes and basil. The Nduja pizza wasn't my cup of tea because it was too salty. But if you're in to salty things it's up your street. It was a well made pizza. The comp dish was a fried grain/pasta ball in marinara. Cheesey, good texture and the sauce wasn't too acidic. The overall place was well lit as you can see the photos look A1, Open kitchen and the cocktails were good. Server was cool and ready to

When I visit a new city and end up going to one place THREE times, you know it's a hit. Pizzeria Stella does it for me. It's conveniently located in Olde City so I was able to walk. The first two times I went without a reservation and the third time, they had such a long wait that they basically cut it off and said - take out only. It's popular!

Service is excellent. They are friendly and have a good grasp of the menu. Ask your server for recommendations if you're having a hard time deciding. We have tried several of their pizzas and each has been excellent. They serve them

Ordered UberEATS delivery from here a while ago. Expensive, but I'd say tasty enough for a possible reorder. Got the seafood bucatini, gem Caesar salad and an UberEATS freebie of arancini. You can never go wrong with arancini and theirs was pretty bomb. Bucatini was still perfectly al dente upon delivery, and super flavorful, spiced nicely with some type of fennel perhaps. I was just a little disappointed in the salad because for some reason I got it completely undressed? It was just dry romaine with some radishes, nothing indicating it's a Caesar salad, so I had to dress it in all I

Had reservations at royal izakaya for omakase and decided to bar hop beforehand. Ended up at pizzaria Stella which had a cute little bar in the back of the restaurant. Had a drink and split 2 pizzas between 4 of us. They were great. Had a sausage pizza with added prosciutto.

First time ever visiting Philadelphia, and Stella’s Pizzeria. My favorite pizza was the pepperoni. The lemonade was awesome :) wasn’t very tangy. Also, the walls were pretty neat. Will definitely be back in the future.

Pepperoni Pizza - the bread is thinner so it's kinda hard to pick it up without 2 hands. However the bread is soft and good, the sauce is a little bit sour.

Polpette - The best dish so far. The sauce and the meatballs is great but the meatballs need a little bit more salt.

Blue Crab Bucatini - The pasta is good but the sauce is weird. The sauce has a sharp crab taste, creamy and citrusy.

Beef Bolognese - I'm not fan with the pasta because it's thicker and a little bit hard. However, the sauce is good.

Known for their pizza, but don't overlook the rest of the menu!

I really enjoyed the calamari as an appetizer, and they have delicious homemade gelato. You HAVE TO TRY the olive oil flavor, it was a perfect taste & texture combination of rich and silky.

A cool feature was that they had hundreds of bottle openers on their wall as decoration. It was fun looking at all the variations and it sparked cool conversations during dinner.

Another quarantine review.

I have not had a chance to dine in here at Pizzeria Stella yet but I got take ou during the pandemic. I do hope to be able to come and enjoy the full experience someday.

I tried the margarita pizza, pepperoni pizza, the romaine salad, and the sheep's milk ricotta. Everything was a winner.

The pizzas are all personal-sized but they are much bigger than a standard personal pizza. If you're ordering a couple of sides to try, then one pizza is more than enough (portion-wise, but flavor-wise, you will be tempted to get one of everything). The sheep milk ricotta

The staff at Pizzeria Stella are warm and friendly. They have one of those temperature machines when asking to be seated. There is a good deal of seating on both the side walk and under the pavilion at Head House Square.

We had the San Daniele pizza with prosciutto, smoked mozzarella, pecorino, arugula. This was very good and had a similar crust to Pizzeria Vetri. We also tried the Rock Shrimp Paccheri pasta with guanciale, tomato, pecorino, and chillies. The Little Gem Caesar salad with
tonnato, radish, red onion, grated egg yolk salad was quite good also with in-house made dressing.

They are located in a great neighborhood bustling with nightlife. The staff and servers are all super friendly. Friday night was packed here but we were able to get a table in about 45 mins so not bad.

We were served cocktails (Meletti Mule and Bombi) from some premix cocktail bottles which were equivalent to 2 drinks! They tasted fantastic, just that we didn't get them in cocktail glasses but rather plastic cups but that is due to Covid-19. The tables are kept at a good distance and they are practicing all procedures to keep the customers safe.

We ordered the Polpette for apps and Piccante

I've had Pizza all over the world. I like a pizza a lot. Is my taste exhaustive and all encompassing? No. But Pizzaria Stella serves pizza worth returning to Philly for. Genuinely one of my favourites ever. The staff are friendly and helpful and I sure as hell will be back at the earliest opportunity!
