We had reserved a scooter for a specific time, but got to Pirate Scooter almost 2 hrs early. They had no problem accommodating us and the check out process was fast and easy. After a short test drive to "prove" I could drive, off we went. Their scooters are all practically new (ours had ~1200 miles) and boy can they rip!
Scooters are the way to go in Key West as it makes travel, and more importantly PARKIN, a breeze.

Found online and booked a double scooter, single scooter, and a couple of bikes for our group.
Was reasonably priced, staff was a bit gruff and not overly friendly, but they helped make sure my friend who was a first time scooter driver feel comfortable and safe before she took off. Equipment was good, no issues really experienced over the term of the rental. They close a bit early on their daily hours, but didn't have any issues returning a multi day rental.
Would def rent from them again, not sure if I'd get the accidental insurance again given they didn't even inspect the scooter when we returned

When you're in Key West, one of the things you'll noticed immediately is how many people ride scooters, golf carts, bicycles. I definitely wanted in on the action so I check out many businesses but decided on Pirate Scooter Rental because of the reviews. The location is small and you might pass it if you're doing 26 mph in a 25 mph zone but I did find it with the help of Google Maps. The scooters and equipment are great. The guys are awesome at showing you the ins & outs and ensure that you are taught all basic features. My only issue was the miscommunication. We were not sure of paying for the 6 hour or the 24 hour option. We were told that we could start with the 6, and call and have it extended if we wanted with no worries. Well we enjoyed them a lot and called them to pay/use longer. They said that we needed to bring them back because they were already rented out for the next day, so we had to walk back to our hotel on the other side of the island pretty bummed out. When

The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer's mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. Had the best time of our vacation when we rented scooters from Pirate (7/23/19). The scooters were in excellent condition, the attendants were awesome very knowledgeable and friendly. We only wish we could've rented the scooters for the whole week that we were here. and we got a veterans discount to boot! Thank you Pirate Scooters we had a blast! The Browns

Don't get the Rental Insurance. Does not cover what's most likely to happen on your scooter, which is leaving security cable attached to the wheel. I'm sure it's a very common mistake which is why it's the one thing the insurance does not cover and of course, they don't tell you that when you get it. Thought it's very shady and I feel taken advantage of, if it get a rentals insurance, it's to have the peace of mind that I'm insurance in case of a very stupid (and common) mistake.
