Skip One Seafood Restaurant was named after a fishing boat owned by the market's original owner back in the 60s. Today the restaurant owes its popularity to the harvest of its owner's fleet; Dennis Henderson and his partner own the biggest shrimp boat fleet in Florida. Their trawlers unload nearby, at their Fort Myers Beach packing house.
Wild caught Florida shrimp is known as "pink gold;" it's natural, fresh and flash frozen right out of the nets. The flavor is salty/sweet, and the texture is appealing. Every shrimp platter served at Skip One is hand peeled and deveined the day it is served. Enjoy your meal with beer or wine. About85% of the shrimp Americans eat is from Asia or South America, where it has been raised in chemically treated ponds.

Services
Skip One is the epitome of perfect seafood. I've had grouper at over 100 restaurants throughout the U.S. and confirm Skip One as the best. This place is the real deal. Clam chowder here exists in its primordial form rich with chunks of clam meat steeped in a thick creamy base. It has a zesty peppery flavor that makes you want the next bite more than the last.
Owner Dennis Henderson has worked with the San Carlos shrimp fleet all of his life. He's committed to serving his customers fresh, healthful seafood and promoting the American shrimp industry as a whole. When you buy wild caught shrimp, you are supporting the fishing industries of eight southern states.

I had one of the worst restaurant experiences every. The hostess was so completely rude. She sat a party of 2 at a six person table and then put our party of 5 at a 4 person table. When I asked her to give us a larger table she thought it would be funny to have us wait (another hour) for the six person table she gave to the party of 2. We had already waited 30 minutes. The the hostess starred at us the rest of our meal. I would give a ZERO stars if i could.

I paid 40 dollars for a combo with a handful of shrimp and an appetizer of alligator bites.. the alligator was pretty chewy as if it had been microwaved and had the worst after taste and I ended up tossing it. the shrimp I got was blackened.. it was good quality but it could have been spiced better.. I got fries and salad which were fresh but the fries I got were a crinkle cut frozen type.. the type you get in school lunches.. after eating my tummy was just not agreeing with the food and I was getting terrible reflux after eating it.. in turn the people working there were friendly and answered

Very picky and know my seafood as a New Englander. no no no for Skip One. As a 'seafood ' restaurant who serves clam 'strips' and not bellies? Seafood restaurant and NO fish and chips? New England clam chowder was mud with no flavor and sword fish was cold and I believe 'frozen' fried oysters were nothing but breading and over fried....skip ' Skip One' if you know your fish.😏😨

Service was great, very friendly servers. The stone crab was over cooked and made it taste dry and rubbery. We also had fried grouper and shrimp which tasted like burnt oil, the deep fryer was either turned up to high or need to be changed. The breading was unseasoned, which made it very bland and taste like oil. I will not be returning.

Calamari appetizer was just ok and very small portion for price. Wife's fries were room temperature. Another couple came in 5 minutes after us and had their order taken way before us. There were only us 2 couples their at the time. I had grouper sandwich and wife had Mahi sandwich. Both were excellent. Will give it a second try someday, but fairly pricey for not being on the water.

All while I lost hope for decent customer service since covid and the employee hunt everyone is on, I had the BEST southern hospitality from EVERYONE! From our hostess guy, to our waitress, to young man who scooped out my crawfish to take home and ring us up I loved everyone there. Small, family like feel and I wish I could go once or twice a week.… I’m about 45 minutes away but will make it a point to stop often. My mahi-mahi was amazing as was my grouper. My son had the kids fried shrimp and they were huge and he loved them plain! My husband loved his shrimp and grouper as well.

I have a food allergy and Justin was able to make a combo platter that I would and did enjoy. Also, everything we asked for was included in our take out order, such as, tartar sauce, enough ketchup, and cocktail sauce. There were three of us and we all enjoyed our combo platter. The fried oysters, shrimp, and grouper was very good.

This was my first time trying stone crab. The claws are amazing and it was all you can eat! My husband enjoyed his AYCE shrimp and my son, not being a seafood fan at 2, enjoyed his corn dog and fries. Wait staff was attentive and very pleasant. Very happy. Would definitely recommend if you want fresh seafood.
