Mark Herkert, certified arborist, helps you and your trees get along by balancing your goals with the long-term health of your trees. Our tree service has been in business for 20 years, with hundreds of satisfied customers around Seattle. We are on the City of Seattle's recommended list of tree companies, and are referred by Plant Amnesty and City Peoples Garden Design.
Mark has been a certified arborist since 2000. He performs or supervises all tree work, unlike many tree services who only have an arborist "on staff". The right tree for the right location is better than trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.

Services
Shaping: cutting back new growth from vines and hedges to keep them from overwhelming your yard. Restoration: thinning overgrown fruit trees and other previously topped trees to restore their form (winter pruning). Aesthetics: thinning dense (miniature japanese maples) and vigorous (purple leaf plums) trees.
We remove small to medium size trees, generally anything less than 2.5' at the base. If you are unsure about the size call us and we'll be happy to let you know if we can remove your tree. We can also offer pruning options which may still achieve your goals while preserving your trees and saving you money.
We can deliver 5-6 cubic yards of mulch to Capitol Hill, Madison Park, Madrona, Leschi, Mt Baker, and University District for $225 + tax. The price is the same for a 1/2 or full load. Mulch is anything that goes thru the chipper - a mix of leafy green material and woody parts. It is best suited as a top dressing over beds.
The point at which multiple trunks come together to form 1 trunk can sometimes be structurally weak, leaving your tree prone to splitting apart. Cabling is a cost effective method to mitigating this hazard. We use the Cobra cabling system, which does not require holes drilled into the trunk unlike other cabling systems.
The key to fruit trees is knowing what you want. If fruit is a priority then your tree will require annual pruning to ensure good fruit production and accessibility. If you are more interested in having a nice looking healthy tree with fruit being secondary, then the tree will not require much pruning.

Mark was very responsive when planning the project. His estimate was fair and on the lower-end of the mid-range of the bids we got. Smaller additional work items that we asked to add were priced reasonably. The job involved trimming some large branches off a large oak tree, and then pruning several smaller trees. The team was very professional (and friendly), and the work was done exactly as we had hoped. Definitely recommend this company for pruning and tree work.

Mark was excellent! He came out to give us quotes on different options (moderate trimming, extensive trimming vs. tree removal) in caring for a large cedar overhanging our deck. His quotes were reasonable and he was knowledgable about trees and how to care for them. In the end, it turned out that the cedar belonged to the neighbors (who we hope will seek a permit to remove the tree and replant since the tree had been topped). We will definitely hire him in the future. Thanks Mark!

I recently submitted online quotes to a few local companies and Mark was the first to respond within a day. He called immediately after going to my home the next day and was incredibly helpful. The tree is in good health and does not need any pruning at this time. His consultation was free of charge. I am incredibly grateful and will be sure to refer him whenever I can. Highly recommend contacting him for your tree evaluation needs.

We've relied on Mark with Madison Park Tree since we arrived in the neighborhood over a decade ago. We have 4 giant trees that have required periodic pruning and it's great to be able to work with a neighborhood business owner who is a professional arborist with a depth of experience. Super affordable too. Most impressive? We had a huge tree branch come down in a recent storm, hitting a fence and blocking the sidewalk. A call to Madison Park Tree and it was roped off and dealt with promptly.

Mark Herkert of Madison Park Tree is a superb arborist. His bids are competitive. His knowledge is extensive. I have planted a lot of trees, and with each one, I have spoken to Mark about the tree, its characteristics, and its suitability for the site. I have even planted trees in spite of Mark's comments, and I have learned that he is more often right than wrong.
