The Houston Shutter Center was founded by Tyler Spaulding. Tyler's experience in window coverings spans over 10 years. It began in a sales position with a local e-commerce company selling customizable window treatments coast to coast. He is a board member with the Interior Design Society Houston Chapter which enables him to keep up with local designers and trends.
Yes and no. When used properly plantation shutters can be the most energy efficient window treatment. The key is keeping the panels and louvers closed during the coldest or hottest times of the day. The air pocket formed between the window and closed shutters make a great insulator. When the shutter panel is opened or the louvers are in the open position you lose the insulating factor of the air pocket.

We were so impressed with Tyler and his entire company. When giving us the estimate, he let us know all the details involved in installing the shutters.
