Founded in 1975, Mandala Children's House was created to serve the children and families of the East Foothills community of San Jose. The school curriculum follows a developmental model enhanced by the learning practice of Maria Montessori. The mandala is a universal symbol representing wholeness and harmony.
Our highest value is that Mandala be a caring and nurturing place for children, parents, and staff. The staff, family childcare providers, and Board of Directors have kept Mandala a positive, enriching environment for children and their families through their ongoing commitment to these values. Mandala was chosen as the name for our school because it symbolizes our commitment to the development of the whole child.
Mandala is a rewarding place to work because we are all professionals who care about young children and we share similar values about educating them. We are committed to supporting each other in doing our best. Mandala has always been committed to a participatory style of management in keeping with its philosophy.
One of our core values is to serve the WHOLE CHILD. This has meant being a different kind of preschool that has resource professionals on staff, that intentionally teaches character-building and empathy, and that is dedicated to early intervention. My daughter attends Mandala and she loves it. They were one of the few schools in the North San Jose area that advertises their rates. We went to 3 other schools and we had to schedule a tour to find this information. Back the Mandala, great teachers and staff. My daughter has learned how to be patient thanks to Mandala. Their facilities were clean and organized. They have one of the lowest Teacher to Student ratio of 1:8.
Did I mention the staff are extremely helpful with the children and very patient with us parents. We will send out daughter to Mandala next year again.

This is our first year attending Mandala and our little one loves it! We are very happy with the experience so far. The school's focus and way of teaching is very warm and nurturing. We were worried that our child would have a rough first couple weeks being at a new school but there were no tears at drop off and big smiles at pick up!
There are a lot of activities and hands on approach when it comes to learning. A lot of reasons why we love Mandala so far- There is a school app which communicates important information to busy parents! They can also warm your child's lunch, which is really nice

I randomly found Mandala through another Facebook post and I am so happy I did. The school is so nurturing and provides a wonderful environment for my 3 year old. I was impressed from the start with the tour and the application process. Then once school started, I knew I had made the right choice for my son. Their whole mind and body philosophy resonates with me and my son is really thriving. I like that even though it’s a Montessori school, it’s modifed and there’s a set schedule with a bit of structure. Not too much but enough.

Two of our girls went to Mandala for preschool. We love the teachers and the way they nurture the children. This school teaches children to be empathic and socially responsible while also teaching them the basics. My first grader loves to come back and visit the teachers and staff that gave her such a positive first experience of school. This year is our last year at Mandala and we feel as though we are leaving our family.

As a teacher I've always enjoyed working here. There is a special bond that seems to form from being a part of Mandala working with my wonderful co teachers and the amazing children, but it wasn't until recently after my son had the opportunity to spend a day at Mandala that I really realize what a special place it is. I asked him if he liked school and he said i loved it because all the teachers listen to me. Something so simple had made such a big impact on my little boy.

This is an outstanding school and an incredible experience for any little learner! My daughter started Fall 2014 and Mandala has been an important catalyst to helping her bloom into a confident, thoughtful and… motivated little Ladybug! Abbey attends currently three days a week -- and every day she joyfully counts down till the next time she can be at school with her classmates and teachers! Each teacher at Mandala is outstanding and well versed in the Montessori curriculum. The teachers meet each student at their current ability level and help foster a love for learning as well as help

Mandala Children's House is a wonderful preschool! Their philosophy of nurturing the whole child is a god send. And I continue to get affirmations of this fact to this day. At my recent parent/teacher conference with My daughter Rory's 5th grade teacher, I was speechless and a little emotional when her teacher told me that he doesn't say this… about every child but that he is amazed at the wonderful student and extraordinary human being Rory is in his classroom.
