Duet Dance Studio is an award-winning ballroom dance studio located in Chicago West Bucktown. We have been teaching Chicago to dance since 2013 and recently been placed in The Knot Best of Weddings' "Hall of Fame." We offer ballroom dance lessons and specialize in wedding dance instruction. Our one-on-one ballroom dance lessons are tailored to your dance levels, needs and goals.

Having worked with wedding couples for the past decade, we have developed effective teaching methods to help couples with different dance levels, needs and goals.
Erin and Andrew wanted a fun and whimsical first dance for their summer wedding at the Waukegan Yacht Club, and in the process they discovered the joy of partner dancing together. Their dance to 'Don't Stop Me Now' combines foxtrot, single swing, and triple swing as well as lots of fun highlights, including a lift for each of them!
Who said quarantine has to be boring? While we are stuck at home, let's learn a new skill! All you need is the internet, a device, a good spot in your living room and maybe a bottle of wine. Pick a style you'd like to learn and we will deliver the joy of social dancing to you via Zoom livestream! All of the styles we teach don't require a lot of space.

What I can I say?? Duet Dance Studio is just amazing! Me and my fiancee (now wife) took dance lessons here in preparation for our wedding. Our instructor Virginia was absolutely terrific. We worked with Virginia for a few months to get our first wedding dance down, and when the big day came, the dance went down without a hitch. We highly recommend Duet if you're looking to learn how to dance or learn a specific dance for your wedding, so that you don't need to do the prom dance sway.

My husband and I had the best time learning our first dance for our wedding at Duet Dance Studio. I have a dance background so I had a vision and we were paired with MJ, who was just fantastic. She saw and understood our vision of what we wanted our dance to be. Of course I was being challenging with using 2 songs but she was so kind, upbeat and willing to make our dance so special. I know she put in extra work on the side to help us! She was patient with both of us learning the steps and gave us supported feedback without being critical. I would recommend Duet Dance for any kind of dance you want

My dad and I have always wanted to do a choreographed dance for my wedding! When the time came, my friend Jacquelyn recommend Duet after having the best experience with MJ. We had the pleasure of working with Allie, who not only came prepared with ideas and choreography, but her passion, kindness, and patience was unbelievable. My dad had zero dance experience prior to this first lesson, and Allie gave him the tools and confidence to nail a 3 minute dance (with multiple styles of dance intertwined) by the time the big day came!! This will forever be one of the most amazing memories I share with

We went to Duet Dance Studio in preparation of our wedding’s first dance, and it was one of the best decisions we made! We worked with Meghan and she was incredible! Murphy and I are super inexperienced dancers, but Meghan made us feel super comfortable and was a great instructor. We absolutely loved working with her and enjoyed each lesson! We had Virginia as a teacher and I can't rave enough of how amazing she was. She was able to adapt very quickly to teaching us how to waltz based on our ability to learn choreography. She also was amazing at dissecting a youtube video we found and incorporating it into the song we chose :). My wife went home after every lesson on cloud 9 and the classes made her so happy. Our first dance for our wedding went AMAZING due to Duet Dance. Everyone was very impressed with our slick moves. I would recommend this place to anyone trying to learn a choreographed dance for their wedding.

Hanna and the Duet team are fantastic to work with. We knew we wanted to learn to salsa for our wedding, and trialed a few different studios out before we finally found Duet. Hanna made us feel welcome instantly, and was clearly invested in us learning the moves in way that made us feel confident and comfortable. She helped us choreograph a first dance that was perfect for our personality as a couple, and definitely helped set the tone for our entire reception. We had such a blast learning to salsa, we bought more classes so that we can continue to learn more dance styles. Would highly recommend

MJ was amazing to work with! We were told that by our wedding band leader that our first dance required a waltz and realized taking dance classes would be vital because we had absolutely no clue how to do the waltz. We did several lessons in the couple weeks leading up to our wedding and loved the dance that MJ choreographed for us. Our guests thought it was cute and we had fun learning it. I absolutely recommend Duet to anyone, especially engaged couples.

We subscribed to Duet Dance Studio's online dance program for beginners with only three weeks to go until our wedding day - within that time, we were taught all the components for a basic dance via a series of quick, easy-to-follow videos that highlighted each step and how they all fit together to make a rewarding performance. We practiced, practiced, practiced and if our wedding guests are to be believed, that practice paid off! We nailed our first dance to Garbage's "The World Is Not Enough" and we have Duet Dance Studio to thank!

I originally found Szewai (C-Y) on craigslist while searching for a experienced, yet reasonably priced dance instructor to choreograph the first dance at our wedding. We could not be more pleased. We contacted her late in the game, but she rose to the challenge! We originally only intended on taking a handful of lessons, but we had so much fun that we just kept coming back! Szewai by far exceeded all of our expectations. She is charming, professional, and genuine. I agree with another reviewer that she felt like a friend! Szewai is both an amazing dancer

Kathryn worked with us for over two months helping my wife and I prepare for our first dance on our wedding day. I hope she thought our dance went as well as we thought it did from watching the clips and I hope we made her proud (only a few small, unnoticed missteps ) because she was beyond outstanding as an instructor. My wife and I seriously had… so much working with her - we told everyone that often the highlight or thing we look forward to most all week was the 60 minutes we got to work on our dancing with her. Found these guys on Gilt City and couldn't help but put my two left feet to work on a fun date night. The space is super sweet with a mirror wall to watch your form and benches bordering the room to take a seat when you need a break.
I bought the private lesson for 2 plus 1 group BYOB class and I haven't gone back for the group yet but can't wait.
We did the salsa for our private and our intructor made us feel so comfortable. Letting us feel the rhythm and have some fun at the same time. We left learning something new and a great date night to add to the books.

Let me just start off by saying what an amazing time we had during our first dance and all the time that we learned the first dance! We did a choreographed dance not only for us to bond and relax in the mist of wedding planning, but also to impress all of our guests. TBH, if you're going all out to plan a wedding, you might as well go all the way.

I can't say enough positive things about Duet Dance Studio. My (new) husband and I started taking lessons last year in preparation for our wedding. We recently got married and our first dance was one of the most special moments of our entire wedding. There's something really memorable and intimate about learning a new "hobby" with the person you… love. And seeing all the hard-work pay off at the wedding was so incredibly rewarding. I recently had my 30th birthday celebration on 12/27 and the venue and owner was amazing. My guest loved the style and feel of this place. It made my decor flow so well and the location was perfect for public parking. It's a nice up & coming neighborhood. I would love to use this venue again and recommend to others.

Things to know: 1) BYOB. You get to take wine breaks :-) 2) Beginner Merengue class was great. She took it slow at first and then even taught us a combo. I really liked the music because she mixes in contemporary songs 3) Come by yourself, with a partner, or friends; there was a whole mix. This is a great date night idea or friend hang out 4) 20 bucks- can't get better than that
