The mission of JAHS is to increase each scholar's critical thinking skills, promote personal responsibility and self-sufficiency. Our mission is more than words, for it constitutes the three foundations on which all of our efforts are focused.
The critical thinking aspect: In an effort to keep stride with ever-changing technological advances, lessons and activities are designed to guide scholars in the process of obtaining, comprehending, and analyzing information on an efficient scale.Students are provided with strategies and skills that are required in order to think critically and cope effectively with obstacles and challenges that they will face in everyday life.

Jane Addams High School provides free tutoring in all subject matters for current students who need extra assistance. Tutoring can be before, during or after school, depending on student needs. Students who are not performing up to par may be required to participate in mandatory after school tutoring.
Only 18 credits to graduate - How do we do it? We focus on students who are serious about their education and graduation. We eliminated "fluff" classes such as art, music, horticulture, etc. We focus on English, math, science and social studies; these are the things that will help get graduates into college, the military or the workforce.

I decided to transfer to Jane Addams after I dropped out of my old school. When I transferred to Jane Addams I immediately saw my grades improve. I got the extra help I needed with the subjects I was struggling in. The teachers work hard to inspire you. They teach us to be independent and to be responsible in all the aspects of life. The thing that I like about Jane Addams is that everyone helps each other and gets along. I also like this school because the teachers will help you with everything and at this school you never feel alone.

Before coming to Jane Addams I used to attend at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School and Curie Metropolitan High School. My high school journey hasn’t been easy. Jane Addams teachers taught us in different ways so that we would be able to understand. I owe it to the teachers and staff members who have helped me out and guided me through. My success wouldn’t have been the same if I didn’t have teachers that cared. The first high school I attended was Kelly High School. I lost motivation quickly and decided to search for another school. I found out about Jane Addams High School and it has been a great experience. The school is a perfect fit for me. The students at Jane Addams are all taught and practice self-control, which makes me feel much more comfortable. One thing that I like about Jane Addams High School is the support system that they offer us. If you are having any trouble in any classes they will immediately send extra help in your direction. This kind of extra care is what helps students want to get their act together and succeed at this school. At JAHS I learned more than I did my last three years at my old school. This school has showed me that it’s never too late to make a change. I appreciate that Jane Addams has made me finally wake up and realize that if I actually focus and pay attention, I’ll actually learn how to do the work.

Jane Addams High School has made me more organized with my classes and assignments. They enhanced my vocabulary, math and reading skills. They only way your grades will actually be passing is if you show responsibility by doing your work and doing it right. Attendance is important because attendance gives participation points which goes towards your grade so you have to be there everyday to pass. JAHS is well than organized and gets students prepared and keeps us on task. Jane Addams has changed the way I view my education. I truly feel I am college ready.

I have been to two different high schools before I came to Jane Addams. I transferred out of my last school at the start of my junior year. When I started at Jane Addams, it was the answer to all my problems. JAHS is helping me reach my goal and starting my career. Transferring to Jane Addams was an excellent choice. They were recommended to me by a teacher from my elementary school. Jane Addams helps you finish all your work on time because they help you focus and learn more about the topics presented in class. The staff at Jane Addams has encouraged me to think more critical about my future. This school will prepare you for your future. I love Jane Addams because of the environment and energy of everyone. At first I was nervous and thought I wouldn’t like it but the way we learn and the way everything is done is better. I connect with my teachers; everyone is so friendly and understanding and even the principal is very cool. While attending Jane Addams my favorite class has been Algebra & Geometry 3 with Mr. Avila. Mr. Avila doesn’t let anyone give up. Overall I believe Jane Addams is a great school and my family should’ve chosen this school for me a long time ago.

Choosing Jane Addams was the best choice I have made in high school. I love being at Jane Addams. I wish I had gone a lot sooner. The staff is amazing. I never experienced a school that actually tried to help their students like Jane Addams Staff does. They want you to succeed and they make you believe you can do whatever you put your mind to. Going to JAHS helped me prove that I can do it. I would recommend Jane Addams to all of my friends who are in the same boat I was in.

The best decision I made was when I left my old high school and started going to Jane Addams. I wanted a high school that I can attend and be normal. When I first started going to Jane Addams I was confused, shy, and scared all at once. I wasn’t used to this type of structured environment and strict staff. At JAHS we have to show respect, be safe, and be engaged in school work. I am now comfortable here and feel good that I’m attending a school that will help me later in life.
