Now Kevin is expanding his focus to include Volkswagen and Suburu. As the father of two children Kevin realizes the importance of safety.

First experience brought me back. Honest and absolutely the most knowledgeable person to work on Volvo cars. That being said, I took my Volvo in to look at the ball joints and replacing the front axles. Finished the job and did I test drive. And on the test drive Kevin noticed something was off on the suspension. Gave me my options (including one to fix myself) but I was like you just go ahead and do it. So I know there will not be any issues. Definitely coming back for future service and would highly recommend.

Love working with a Volvo professional! Found Kevin @ KP Motorworks about 5 years ago. My 242 Volvo Turbo 1983 needed smog. Kevin pointed me to other local pros and success! Got a V70 AWD since then and Kevin’s neighborhood shop has been my ‘go to’ provider of Volvo excellence. He gives a hard unvarnished look at what the car needs and a timetable to do it in. That’s what I need to keep going on the freeways back and forth to SF! Yahoo!!!

I had an amazing experience at KP Motorworks! I took in a 98 Volvo that needed some serious lovin’. Not only did he fix everything that needed fixing-but he was so incredibly patient with me to take the time to really find out the root of the problem bit by bit.
I can’t thank Kevin and his amazing team enough for the great work they’ve done! Not only will I be returning again, I will be referring all of my Volvo family over to KP Motorworks!

I have been a Volvo owner for 35 years and recently heard of KP Motorworks through an acquaintance who said, “you have to go to the Volvo Doctor, Kevin is the best!” I took my car in for some minor maintenance and I could not have been happier with the quality of service, attentiveness and thorough knowledge of all things Volvo. I’m thrilled to find such professional and trustworthy auto care, a real treasure! They also work on Subarus and Volkswagens.

I dropped off my car for a check engine light thats been on for a couple weeks. Kevin checked it out and gave me an honest diagnosis of what needs to be addressed. I went to what is apparently known as a "reputable" volkswagen shop before KP and right off the bat they were trying to get me to pull my engine apart and quoting me some ridiculous prices. I'd highly recommend taking your car here if anything is wrong. I'll definitely be coming back if I have any problems.

It's simple: Kevin at KP is THE BEST mechanic - super competent, direct, honest, clear, kind, and looks out for you as a customer. I feel very lucky to have found KP Motorworks and highly recommend them for small or big repairs. My v60 Volvo needed a timing belt and now she purrs along. And Kevin's estimate was reasonable too, and this helped a lot during lean budget/Covid times.

Kevin and his team are super knowledgeable, transparent, accommodating, and price fairly.
I've been taking my Volvos to KP Motorworks since 2007 (850, V40, V70). I wish I could do more to convince people that this is the Doctor for your Volvo. And it's definitely worth the drive even if you are from out of town (I'm in Petaluma).

Came into the shop for a quick oil change and also to get a headlight replaced. Kevin provided very quick service at a reasonable price. The car was a little behind on upkeep, so he also notified me of a few other maintenance jobs that it was due for. I set up another appointment right away and was able to get back in later that week. Very satisfied with my experience.

I brought Kevin an 06 Xc90 that I had bought as a salvage. He found me a complete used engine for it, checked the transmission, went through the brake system
replaced some components that it needed for the ABS, and updated the software in it. He did a full safety check and made sure everything was A OK. I was kept in the loop the whole way. Very pleased with his work. We, can feel confident now in letting my teenage son drive this Volvo. Thank you Kevin, great job.

This review is not based on the work done. My husband called and asked for a price on a very specific maintanance/ car service. We were told a price an made an appointment. But when we picked up the car, the cost was considerably higher. Said they "made a mistake...etc". They should have honored the price they quoted, but they did not.

If you want to find a professional that knows (and loves) Volvo's go no further. He runs a neighborhood shop near the 101 freeway. He's fair, looks ahead with he car care plans and allows me to choose when to go for it. I'm a Volvo fan, been with him for about 2 years and couldn't be happier to have a pro working on my car!!!

It was a blessing to find Kevin after being given the run around by other mechanics for many years. I've had several Volvo's, 240's and now a 1973 140 , (old I know) and Kevin is one of the few mechanics who actually fixes the problems instead of just telling me to get a newer car. He is honest and super helpful. He actually gets straight down to the point instead of charging you tons of money to fix things that don't actually even have to be fixed. Although we no longer own our 1998 v70 t5 (totalled), KP Motorworks did a great job of keeping it in top form while we did, Kevin knows the common problems of this brand and charges a more reasonable "time to fix base on experience" rather than what the book says it will take to fix. Volvos are not exactly cheap to maintain, but they are so dam comfortable and a joy to drive that we are now looking for a replacement that will find itself back to Kevin for service.

Avoid this repair shop like the plague. They do not stand behind their work. Sure, people are happy when their car gets fixed the first time, so they leave a glowing review. But what about the times when KP makes mistakes and doesn't stand behind his work, charging you anyway? You'd think he'd be glad to have a first time client bring it back and try to fix it again or some incentive to make good. Nope. That's not how he rolls. These guys are great! We brought a 2005 Volvo XC70 that was giving us trouble. They have all the equipment the dealer does and without the dealership attitude or pricing! I run an auto repair shop in Petaluma and I was impressed by their service and knowledge of Volvo. They are my go to shop now.

I bought my S80 in 2007 and Kevin has maintained it ever since. He has always been honest, efficient and rescued me several times when I needed something done quickly. My only objection is that he won't work on my wife's Subaru but recommended a mechanic to me that we like almost as much. Keep up the great work, Kevin, and congratulations on your well earned reputation.

If you have a Volvo, especially of you have a horrid Volvo as I do, KP Motorworks is the place for you. I was referred to Kevin several years ago by my old neighbor who has at least ten Volvo's. Kevin has been amazing in keeping my 2006 V50 running and at far less the cost and in far less of the time that I used to send sending it to Smothers. The only downside is I don't get a free loaner, but saving thousands of dollars is worth the small inconvenience of being carless for a day or two.
Good, honest and fair mechanics are hard to find. If you need one for your Volvo, I swear by KP

He really got to know me when I had my deathmobile aka Volvo wagon.
Man that car was nightmare. I once left his shop and had to turn around half way because my break lights went out. I can't speak for Volvos as cars, but I can for Kevin! My Mom still goes to her and always is fair and never tries to rip her off.
I did end up spending quite a bit on that evil car of mine, but Kevin always made the experience better. When I bought my Nissan I asked him if he could work on it and suggested a Nissan mechanic (which I found a great one). Instead of taking my money, he was honest
