My experience is similar to most of the other 1-star reviews.
Concern #1
* Safe Harbor (SH) offered an estimate of $2500-3000, but in the end they sent me an invoice with a total charge of $6350. Exceeding an estimate by more than 100% is unacceptable IMO.
* There was never any warning that we had exceeded the original estimate, or that the work was different than originally expected. Throughout the 3.5 month intermittent relationship, I was expecting that we were inside the original estimate. In fact, we had blown through the high-end estimate in the first two days.

Chun and his team crush it. Who likes taxes? I sure don't. But these guys and gals at Safe Harbor seem to live and breath the tax code. They analyzed both my California and my federal tax exposure, and gave some good long-term strategies to lesson what I pay to Uncle Sam. Yeah, I still paid a lot in taxes but I'm confident I paid the min. necessary plus going-forward I can work to keep it as low as possible. If you own a small business in SF, then recommended.

My attorney did a search for a good company to help me with my US and international tax affairs. He recommended Safe Harbor, which proved to be a great choice. I got them info from a friend. Then look over Yelp to check them out.
I have called. A lady basically told me. Best way to get more info is the email. No calls. Just email us.
I assume she was WAY busy to just give me a quick info and not waste my time waiting for them email.
Then end of the day. I received an email.
Most of the email is them outrages rates. Outrages it's the right ward.
I usually do my Busines return and personal for 800$.
But not this place. Rip off. He was asking close to 4-5k just to file my tax return.

Five stars because yes I procrastinated and Safe Harbor came through on my tax preparation! Taxes are tough. I hate them. I really really hate them. I hate bookkeeping, too. I hate record keeping. So yeah I put it off. Like really really put it off. But I have complicated San Francisco taxes - start up, international tax and a big mess of stuff. It's complicated (like my life). So I waited but they came thru. Highly recommend Chun and his team.

The Safe Harbor team and Chung Wong helped tremendously with my international tax questions. They answer promptly first via a detailed email then conducted a WebEx meeting with me and was very generous with their time.
I had a few complex international tax questions. Trying figure out how to be compliant with both United States and Europe tax laws. I reached out to over 10 other CPA's and Tax Specialist across the United States and they mostly just back to me with short answers, a big upfront cost without even speaking to me or they could not help at all because it was above their knowledge

Safe Harbor and Chun Wong are an excellent tax team. Among their specialties are international tax, and complicated small business tax matters. In my case, I have overseas income (albeit not a ton) but it still makes my taxes a nightmare. By using them, I was able to rest easy that the necessary tax compliance issues were done, and my taxes were as little as possible. Highly recommended.

The senior executive--who took care of me always, from the beginning--was often short-tempered with me; his seemly unsympathetic attitude truly made my two or three visits to Safe Harbor a very saddening experience. I found Chun here on Yelp and now I know why he has such good reviews. He's very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful and he really cares. I saved $$ by deciding not to incorporate after a phone conversation with him. He knows all the intricacies and details on different things.

I have waited patiently for an answer to an email I wrote two weeks ago. I'm seeing that other people have the same issue with a lack of responsiveness, so I have to post here too. What a shame.
We are approaching tax season, and they can't be bothered to respond. They don't even have an auto-reply set up. Red flags, to say the least. I will take my business somewhere else.
