At Birmingham Chiropractic Clinic, we strive to make the new patient experience as comfortable as possible. After the formalities of some brief paperwork, the doctor will take a detailed history. A good history goes further than just the basic question of: "When did the pain start?" It highlights pertinent information to establish relationships between your past medical history and current complaints.
Manipulation - Also referred to as an adjustment. An adjustment involves the use of a doctor's hands to apply a direct and controlled force to the spine or extremities. Adjustments improve joint health and function by restoring movement to a dysfunctional joint. Manipulations are also very effective at reducing pain and relaxing muscle spasm.
Many of the tests performed during the chiropractic evaluation are unique to BCC. They are representative of our comprehensive approach to spinal care and encompass principles of the most current, evidence-based philosophies in a wide range of health care specialties. Range of Motion Assessment - Normal and healthy ranges of motion are compared to the available movement in your joints.
Once I start seeing a chiropractor, do I have to go forever? No. We will determine if chiropractic care can be helpful by taking a history, performing a physical examination, and possibly taking X-rays. If chiropractic care is warranted, we will recommend a treatment plan and outline how much time it might take to reach the goals of the plan.

Highly recommend this practice. Life changing results from the care they provide. Hours are great and the staff are very accommodating. Specifically Dr. Totten has helped my lower back and neck problems. He has been fully accurate in alleviating my discomfort while working toward correction goals. You have to do the stretches patients, help them help you.

I battled chronic hip and lower back pain for years and was beginning to think I just had to live with it. Dr. Kirsch proved me wrong. He helped me correct my rotated pelvis, and therefore heal my hip, Sometimes it felt like he barely adjusted me, sometimes I felt the intervention (strongly !), but each session--though different--was a stepping stone to where I am now. Stable! I come back for regular tweaks. The diminished pain has truly given me my life back! Plus he is a very kind and funny and likeable human. And the desk staff is very nice. Thank You BCC, from the bottom of my heart....

I have had two experiences where Dr. David Kirsch helped me tremendously. The first was a few years ago when I had an issue with sciatica that, for several days, kept me from sleeping and sitting comfortably. I was scheduled to fly to the west coast and didn't think I could handle the plane ride, but after 3 spine adjustments by Dr. Kirsch, I was able to make that trip. More recently, I experienced severe arthritis in my knee that hampered my ability to exercise much for three months. Physical therapy did help, but I still couldn't seem to fully recover. I was thrilled when David had me back to

Simply put Dr Kirsch is a miracle worker. My husband has days he can barely walk due to a prior back injury and on his worst days he will be a whole new man after a visit w Dr Kirsch. I made an appointment after seeing a few of these profound moments and I am finally seeing improvement on some hip and shoulder issues that have been long time pain sources. Dr Kirsch listens, gives practical recommendations, uses gentle but effective manipulations and we see great results. We drive 40 minutes for appointments but I recommend his office to everyone.
