Reservations highly recommended. No bigger Groups than 6 ppl. Have fun and enjoy German Folk Songs played by Almdudel Fred and Petra & Teresa from 4:30 - 8:30 pm. You don't have to pay for Music but we ask you to have a Maincourse and a Beverage please. The German Lunch and Dinner spot is in the Publix-anchored shopping center at Cortez Road W. and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 am to 8.30 pm.
They offer authentic German Meals, a good choice of vegetarian or gluten-free possibilities and everything is made from scratch by the owner, Master Chef Uwe from Bavaria. The name comes from "The Lion and the Frog" retold by Brothers Grimm. The story is about a frog which encouraged a sad princess to slay a lion to see her prince brother again.

Within 15 minutes of entering the restaurant I was reprimanded by the hostess/ waitress twice. I was given a talking to because I walked in and stood by the door without announcing myself (I did ask the chef if I could go ahead and sit down, rather than standing). I was told that the next time I come in I must let her know I want to be seated ( I'm used to being greeted when entering a restaurant, sorry). Next, I said that I would like the sauerbraten (I like sauerbraten a lot) for my dinner--wrong thing to say. She instructed me that I had mis-spoke and that next time I must say I want

Very pleasant staff and tasty German food. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the menu is a bit pricey, which seems to be the norm for German restaurants in the US. I was served more food than I could eat. Next time, I'm going to bring my wife and split an entree, as I believe that would be a better fit. I WILL be back!

Found this on our way back to Mom's. We decided to stop.
Had a delicious salad n the beef special. I had double cabbage goulash, sauerbraten and hot dog sampler. It was all really good.
Hubby had the German meatloaf special w red cabbage, potato salad, and small salad. It was good tasting and good portions.
We had the Thursday dessert special. An egg white cake w blueberries. Have to order it w your meal because it a special made to order and takes time to put together. Worth the wait. Large portion tastes so good the hot blueberries sauce was so good.
Sodas were 2 refills. Ice Tea

Food was good but pricey. Had the pork combo to go at $26.99 or $27.99 and was suspicious when I picked it up - the bag was very light. When I got back to my hotel, I discovered why: little food = light bag. At this price, I expected more. They even tried to upcharge me for trying to swap the side of sauerkraut for red cabbage. Disappointed.

You know a German place will be good when staff/owners and random patrons are speaking German when you walk through the doors!
Delicious and authentic German food. Reminded me of my Oma's meals and childhood in 1st Gen German family. The food was freshly prepared and delivered quickly. Perhaps the best red cabbage I have ever eaten. In addition, the owners and staff were friendly and informative. The restaurant has music events which looked like a blast. If interested in a Veal Shank, be sure to call ahead. They require 24 hours notice for this item. Excellent food, atmosphere, and

Service was outstanding. Food was delicious. I had chicken with mushrooms and white wine Gorgonzola sauce. It was served with spaetzel. The dish had blueberries which added a nice sweet surprise. Husband had goulash with spaetzel. Tender and delicious. Also ordered a side of German potato salad. I liked it, but husband thought it was just okay. Why did I give this place a 4? It didn't feel like a German restaurant at all. No cuckoo clocks, no nutcrackers, no beer steins, no German music.

We made a recent trip to Bradenton Florida and had lunch at this great German restaurant. The service was perfect and the food was delightful. I ordered the "Princess Island", which was chicken strips served with a mushroom/ cheese sauce and spaetzles...delicious! My husband ordered the "Queens Heart' which is Saubrauten or braised beef marinated with wine, vinegar, berries & spices, and served with spaetzles & red cabbage, It was "excellent." And, we thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful Apple Strudel topped with creamed vanilla sauce & whipped cream

This quaint little spot is an absolute delight. Owned and run by a friendly German family this is going to be a must visit anytime we are in the area.
From the moment we walked in the service was attentive and friendly. Like the name suggests there are plenty of frog themed decorations to be found and a nice little story behind the name. The menu had a good variety of gluten free options for me and plenty of vegetarian options for my wife. The food was outstanding, we are big fans of German food and this might be the best German restaurant we have been to. The star of the evening was the Sauerkraut

I went here after a shopping trip with my beading group. It was recommended by a local. They quickly seated our group. Good selection on lunch menu. We shared large desserts. Friendly service. Automatic tip for groups. I don't recommend eating here if you are cutting calories - very filling German food!! I would definitely eat here again.

A great recommendation
Is it just me or does Lucky Frog sound like the name of a Chinese restaurant. When Lucky Frog was recommended to me, I was told it was German. My confusion was short, and we visited Lucky Frog for lunch today. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we approached the front door, and that same positive vibe we felt continued for the entire meal. Our server, who is one of the owners, took excellent care of us.
They offer a lunch menu which had reasonably priced items. I went with something called Lions Meal, a bratwurst with sauerkraut and potato salad, and it was
