Upon graduating from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, in 1982, he and his family moved to Colorado. While there, he had the opportunity to work and study with several well-known dentists in the Denver area. He also spent time at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Study, in Florida, to increase his expertise in restorative and esthetic dentistry, including dental implants.
It's a very common issue worldwide. In fact, nearly HALF of everyone will snore at some point in their life. According to an article posted in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, about 40% of adult men and 24 % of adult women are habitual snorers. So, what is snoring? Snoring is when air cannot move freely through your nose and throat causing the tissues to vibrate.
An oral appliance holds the lower jaw forward and slightly open to help maintain an open airway, reducing snoring and apneas. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine states that oral appliances may serve as an alternative to patients who prefer them to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, or who do not respond to, are not appropriate candidates for, or fail treatment attempts with CPAP.
Temporomandibular disorders are a group of problems that cause pain and poor function in the jaw joint and the muscles responsible for jaw movement. They're also called TMD, or TMJ (short for temporomandibular joint) disorders. You may spend most of your life unaware of the important little triangular-shaped joints located in front of your ears.

I had a very positive initial appointment at Dr Rileys. I had been living out of state and found the office technology far more advanced than my previous dentists. The office was also very organized and efficient. Cleaning by the hygenist, Rochelle, was thorough and gentle. Dr Riley explained everything very well and was open to questions. It was a longer first appointment than I ever had.
