For over 20 years we have helped people like you from wide backgrounds with many different concerns who are not "crazy" or "mentally ill" but simply need help navigating a course towards a more emotionally satisfying life.

Services
Prairie Family Counseling and Consulting of Omaha is conveniently located near 90th and Center streets at 2730 South 87th Street. We are not far from I-80 and are within walking distance to the city bus. Our facility is fully handicapped accessible with ample off-street parking. We offer testing and interviews in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in our newly remodeled and professionally decorated multioffice facility.
Dr. Cottam is a former active duty military officer and the daughter of a decorated combat operations veteran. She values your contribution and respects your service. As a military trained psychologist, she has a special understanding of the needs and challenges of service families. Now as a civilian practitioner your consultations are safe, private and CONFIDENTIAL.
Forensic Psychology is the interaction of our legal system with psychology. As a psychologist, Dr. Cottam is trained to use evidence and research as a basis. She is additionally a licensed attorney. She has testified in over 300 cases requiring the opinion and findings of an expert psychologist in juvenile, county, district, federal and military courts.
Quality healthcare including therapy is a significant personal and financial commitment. It's important to remember that your relationship with your insurance provider is separate from your treatment relationship with Prairie Family Counseling and Consulting. You are responsible for costs not covered by insurance at the time of service.

During this week's session, I brought up cultural competence and the importance of that for me as a person of color, for me and people working with my children. Dr. Cottam got frustrated and said, "I'm so sick of people playing the race card" to which I told her I'm sorry but this is our lives. She responded and told me, "her best friend is black. She's a director of diversity in Missouri." LOL! I told her to have a chat with her best friend about our conversation and get her feedback. We've been seeing her for about six months and my children don't feel comfortable talking to her and I've tried

Glenda Cottam ignored results of psychological evaluation in favor of "the mother" instead gave her biased opinion in court when we paid her to simply read the report. Kids were severely alienated against their father (my husband) even at 50/50 placement. The mother is a narcissist and did not work, wanted full custody when alimony ran out. Wasn't alarmed that the mother took a "vacation" for a week prior to the interviews, and thought it was normal for the kids to overreact and and call their dad by name.
