Preparing the best of Traditional Japanese (Edo-mae) Style sushi using home made ingredients and recipes. Everything is prepared using the best of local and seasonal ingredients from around the world. Behind every meal is hours of careful preparation using skills and techniques acquired over the years.
Make reservation to Sushi Bar and experience the taste of what traditional style Japanese sushi is all about. We are located in a small place at San Diego Old Town, so only limited seats are available. Highly recommend making reservations. Located off the beaten path, this mini counter has been a mighty hit since throwing open its doors.

We came to this one star Michelin to splurge for our 5 year anniversary. Overall, good. We liked it but I personally thought Soichi was better (I went to Soichi before it became Michelin though). One wrinkle with the service was after we were taken to sit at the sushi bar, the host rushed to me and asked me again what my name and phone number is and what day was my reservation for, and walked away. I don't like to be questioned like I was in the wrong.

First time here and it did not disappoint! Like so many people, we saw it had received a Michelin star and we made a reservation that was about a month out. On a weekday around 7pm, parking was readily available. We arrived early but couldn't be seated early (which was totally fine).
We sat at the sushi bar and everything was spaced out, which was nice! We were lucky to get the owner himself as our sushi chef, which made it an even more special experience. He was very nice, explained everything thoroughly, and everything was exceptionally presented!
My husband and I debated on whether

Go with the Omakase menu.
No bite was worse than a 9/10, and most were at least 11/10.
We've spent the day since our meal debating whether the best dish was the cured halibut nigiri or the miso marinaded sea bass or the oyster on the half shell or the uni over salmon roe and rice or the triggerfish nigiri or the baby barracuda nigiri or the...
Several are strong contenders for best bite of food I've ever eaten.
My wife had seen reviews on here that some thought it wasn't enough food. This was definitely false. We weren't stuffed, but were entirely satisfied by this incredible

Transcendent. Beautiful fish, perfect rice, friendly and handsome chef. The synth jazz in the background was kind of an odd choice, but who am I to judge? Maybe it's a staff favorite. Absolutely the best place in San Diego to sit at the bar and visit heaven. I was surprised there was dessert, too. House-made zenzai ... I could have cried with joy!

Food was so good, I was still talking about it the next day. This is the kind of place where you go for the quality cuts and fish that is served. The presentation is awesome and even the garnishes they use I'm certain come from Japan. We had sashimi mainly, the oyster as appetizer, some 2 piece sushi, and a roll. I will skip out on the roll next time.

This Michelin star restaurant is in a strip mall beside a neighborhood liquor store. There are probably less than 10 tables. Menu is full of spelling mistakes. The chef or management or owner doesnt care.
We started with a fish head, fresh. It scared our 6yo daughter though. The tempuras were ok, expected better from a Tadokoro.
We ordered mostly nigiri and sashimi. Starting from monk fish liver, which tasted like chicken liver almost. Very fois grasesque. This was probably the master piece. All that came after wards, fatty tuna to eels, I am sure they were great but couldnt really came to

We so happened to make a reservation on the very day that their Michelin star was announced, so we're pretty stoked that we were able to get in before this place started to get even more hyped.
Sushi Tadokoro is located in a small strip mall in Old Town, and you could easily overlook it. The parking lot is TINY, so expect to be parking on the street if you come here. Reservations are also highly recommended since it's pretty small inside and there isn't a ton of seating.
Service is friendly and accommodating -- as would be expected at any Michelin star or proper Japanese restaurant

I'm honestly not sure how this place received one Michelin star... I really had high hopes but it didn't meet my expectations. I have been spoiled with AAA sushi spot back home, even the non Michelin ones, this place really disappointed me...
First of all, I would like to point out, Michelin stars restaurant decor and bathroom, down to chopsticks, soy sauce, wasabi and ginger plating should all be up to par. This place gives a cheap feel, they have the generic small white dish, disposable wooden chopstick and a piece of paper napkin lol the tall water glass doesn't add to the Michelin

Tried the omakase here and it was disappointing. The wait between the course was 15-20 min and I am not full at all after. We got 6 pieces of nigiri and didn't get toro. That is not to say that the fish we got was not good. The ingredients were fresh and I enjoyed them as they came. The most disappointing course was the entree with the head of the fish with barely any meat in it and it was tough. The soy sauce was way too salty. I almost wish I had rice with it to carry the sauce and get a bit more full. I'm torn giving this a 2 stars because the service was nice. Definitely just disappointed

Located in Old Town in a tiny shopping center. They have just a few parking spots & the other spots are reserved for the other businesses. So it is best to park on the street or in the residential area.
Make a resy! This restaurant is very popular ever since it was given a Michelin star. Also, the restaurant is very small & intimate.
Garlic Edamame: Flavorful!
Chicken Karage: Thick pieces of chicken, I do wish that they had a dipping sauce for the chicken.
Chashu Bento Box: An assortment of fish over rice. Delicious, fresh fish!

Amazing. That describes the overall experience from start to finish.
I was at the bar and I was able to see how each piece of food was prepared, and it was fun just watching the level of professionalism at each stages of preparation. And the chef explained to me what each ingredient were and why it was chosen. I just blown away with consideration he put. Like nori for the temaki, he said was the type farmed early in the season because it has better texture. I didn't know that, and it was fun paying attention to the texture while eating. It was, "ohh I see" experience from start

They serve very high quality, fresh fish here! One of the best sashimi/nigiri sushi restaurants in town. They get even busier after they received a Micheline star. Reservations must be made at least one month ahead of time. Seafood miso was a good value. Mixed tempura (shrimp and veggies) was just ok; nothing to ride home about. Definitely worth a try!

Decided to visit this place after seeing this restaurant was recently awarded a Michelin star. Called to make a reservation. Place is located in a small plaza. Parking mainly on the street
Ordered the omakase for the night. Overall i thought the food was tasty. The highlights were tofu- very thick and pudding like. Toro- super fatty and fresh. Uni- from Japan, very sweet and buttery.
The rest of the sashimi were good but certainly I've had better.
I think if you are around the area it's definitely worth a visit. Unlike other omakase you will probably leave hungry. So be

Been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally got the opportunity. Its located in a small unassuming strip mall kinda like how sushi ota is.
We got a bunch of sushi and appetizers they were all very good.
Ankimo (monkfish liver), Shrimp tempura, Aji Sashimi, seafood miso soup, kawahagi (trigger fish), kinmedai (golden eye snapper), red snapper, hotatte, maguro zuke, o toro, negi toro, saba, hamachi, enagawa (halibut fin), sake, and unagi.
The standouts of the night were the Shrimp tempura, so light and airy. Although i didn't try it, my friend raved about the seafood

I really enjoyed their nigiri special along with an order of toro that we split amongst ourselves when we stopped in for a late lunch recently. Next time I'll come with a bigger appetite and a slightly bigger budget as the nigiri that was being served omakase style at the bar was seriously tempting.

Delicious, authentic sushi that is also a price of art. We had the omakase experience and the chef (also the owner Mr. Takeiki Tadokoro) chose what to serve based on a base menu adjusted to what we liked. We enjoyed flavorful fresh fish from around the world with great cuts off fish. Even the dessert was delicious.
Although the restaurant is non-assuming, sitting in a plaza close to the airport, food is really high grade. And the restaurant is highly recommend for authentic sushi enthusiasts. They have takeout too that looked good but haven't tried it.

Reservations - Needed in advance, but only had to call the day before for a Thursday 6:30PM seating. Restaurant is very small but spacious seating.
It's hard to compare to omakase restaurants in SF, but for the price we were paying, we were expecting more. It was actually more expensive than most of the omakase restaurants I've been to in SF and we were given much less. Service was still very good.
Fish was good but not mind blowing. Tasting menu went by quickly, going from two appetizer dishes to a couple slices of fish, and then ice cream that I don't think was made in-house

Been wanting to try this place since they were featured on Michelin's discoveries list. The food overall was a bit above average. If compared to Soichi, the other sushi restaurant featured on the Michelin's list, the courses for the omakase were almost identical. Some portions here was bigger compared to Soichi but also missed out on some dishes.
