Basically what we work with in Chiropractic is the relationship between the nervous system and the bony vertebrae of the spine. When one or more vertebrae lose their normal position, they interfere with the nerves they were meant to protect. This interference can cause pressure or irritation on the nerve roots as they pass out of the spinal column.
Many patients ask "Why would a child need to go to a Chiropractor". Well, it could have started as the doctor pulled them by the head out of the birth canal! Kids also take falls and spills. They get asthma, colds, and colic that respond well to a Chiropractic adjustment. The nervous system controls the function of all tissues and organs of the body.
