The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, enacted in 1975, is the federal law that protects consumer product warranties. Other states also have enacted their own protections. So even if you bought or leased your car in another state, we may be able to help you. A: Typically, lemon laws protect anyone who purchased or leased a new or used vehicle from a dealer in the state, while the manufacturer's original warranty is still in effect.
A: If you purchased or leased a car and required as few as two repair visits to fix a defect, you may be eligible. At least one of the repair attempts must be during the warranty period. After 30 total days in repair (consecutive or not), your vehicle may be considered a lemon under California's lemon law.
California's lemon law is officially titled the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act. If you bought or leased your vehicle in California, this law offers broad protection to you as the consumer. However, our lawyers have also helped clients with vehicles purchased out of state under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
You may be eligible if the manufacturer is unable to remedy a defect after as few as two attempts. At least one of the attempts must occur during the warranty period. If you prevail in your lemon law claim, the manufacturer can make restitution in several ways. In cases of misconduct, the manufacturer may even be ordered to pay you a civil penalty, which might be as much as three times the price you paid for the car.

These guys were amazing! I had a 2018 VW GTI that I got brand new. Right from the start, the A/C lost all the freon so I had to take it back to the dealer. Then it happened again...and again. I told my friend about it and he suggested I contact Derek at the Lemon Law Guys as my friend had used them for a "lemon" that he had bought.

Dealing with my faulty vehicle throughout the years was a major pain. In contrast, working with Jonathan Buxton from The Lemon Law Guys was painless. I bought a truck but I was experiencing some troubles. I took it to the dealership and they did not fix the problem. I was getting frustrated because I was paying monthly on time and when I took it to the dealership they did not provide me another car. I was thinking keeping my truck but I decided to take a shot on the lemon law. I called three firms. I would like to say these guys are amazing. We had been having issues with our suv for five years and taken it in over 10 times for a burning smell. We were at the end of our rope when the water pump blew up. When the dealer fixed it, the burning smell got even worse and said they are not sure what it is. I was talking to a friend about my frustrations and he told me to call a lemon law attorney. I ended up calling three different companies all in LA except Johnson & Buxton. I went through this law firm with Derek and hands down was the best service. I had never had a Lemon vehicle but this car was a joke and the dealership did not want to take it back even after I took the vehicle back 9 times in 3 months for the same issue.
