As adults, we can take inventory and easily identify the areas of our life that we want to change. How to get there is another story. The sooner we address these issues, the sooner we can live the life of our choosing. Helping children with emotional, social, and/or behavioral challenges develop a better sense of self and more effective coping skills, can profoundly impact their success in all aspects of adult life.
Before a client is matched to a therapist, an assessment is available that is completed by a trained member of our assessment team. During the assessment process a detailed summary of the client's background information is obtained. The client is empowered with feedback during this process and works in collaboration with the assessor in developing a comprehensive treatment plan.
At Boulder Psychological Services (BPS) our therapists are very experienced at assisting adult clients with a wide range of treatment issues, utilizing a variety of treatment techniques to help you address your unique concerns. You want a therapist who not only has the training, expertise, and approach to effectively help you but perhaps most importantly, someone with whom you will feel comfortable working.
If your child is currently struggling at home and/or in school, initiating counseling before the problem(s) worsen is always a good idea. In addition to finding the therapist with the right expertise for your child, just as important is finding someone with whom your child will be comfortable working.
Relationships are tough. While the work necessary can be very challenging, the rewards can not only profoundly improve the relationship, but also the individuals' own quality of life. Too often couples wait until the battle scars are so deep, that reconciliation becomes a much more challenging goal.

As a long time public school employee and a private practitioner I have consulted with Dr. Hittelman numerous times. As expected, Dr. Hittelman always insists on having signed permission forms completed before we discuss any clients, provides excellent assessments, uses only the most updated assessment instruments, and has always provided very comprehensive and professional reports.
When meeting with families/clients, my observations of Dr. Hittelman have been that he is always kind, accurate, and clear when presenting assessment results (even when the assessment results address difficult to hear

Jan Hittelman was a tremendous help to me and my son when we were both struggling to understand his ADHD. He empowered my son to be an advocate for himself, while giving me the tools I needed to parent him more effectively. I continue to be amazed and enlightened by his knowledge, expertise and most all his compassion. I have referred many clients to Jan's website for help. They always come back thanking me for the success they experienced. I will always be grateful for his help.
