Services
We are Derek + Kristi Olson. We met each other at a game night with friends and have been inseparable ever since. In 2012, we made the best decision of our lives and got married in Savannah, GA. In 2018 we had a beautiful baby girl and she melts our hearts daily. Baby girl #2 is arriving in 2021 : Our family is blessed and we enjoy every moment as parents.
Wedding photography isn't just one type of photography. Put aside buzzwords you may hear while searching for a photographer or perusing wedding websites. Let the images do the talking. What emotions do they portray? What do you like about the images? Our craft requires being skilled at portraits, moments, lighting, being socially aware, and so much more.
Engagement sessions are a great way to warm up to having your picture taken. We keep them relaxed, playful, and fun - and we love getting to know who you are on these shoots. We recommend one general location (such as downtown Asheville or the Arboretum) so it's easy to walk around from one area to the next.
A couple things happened in 2018: we had our first baby in May (we love her so much). And we shot a bunch of fantastic weddings. We are wrapping up year 5 of shooting weddings together and are about to enter our 6th year as Fete Photography. Last year we didn't get to put a year in review post together, which is crazy because we had so many awesome weddings.
We loved working with Allison and Nasser in Charlotte, NC. Their venue was Foundation for the Carolinas and it was amazing. We are fans of incorporating color and lines in our photography so working a museum wedding in a city was pretty dreamy for us. One reason the couple chose this location for their Charlotte wedding was because of the large cat painting by W. Louis Jones.

Derek and Kristi were great to work with! We choose them because of their more artistic photographs and beautiful lighting. They were so kind from the moment we arrived. Both made us feel very comfortable (even though we are not photo people). We felt like we were just spending time together and they happened to be there taking photos. They gave just enough instruction that we know we got great photos, but we still felt natural. Even the family portraits were comfortable and quick (thank goodness). Now we just can't wait to see our photos!
