After living all over the globe, following my passion teaching art for 16 years, and a fairytale love story that resulted in a meant-to-be late-in-life marriage, I lost my husband suddenly in 2016, when our daughter was 3 months old. In the few short years since then, I've faced more demons and forged my way through more new "hats" than ever.
Unlike large corporate photography operations, we work with a few, select schools in order to provide personalized service that truly meets your needs. No cheesy forced smiles; no awkward, stiff poses. We focus instead on the authentic essence of each child, at that moment. The results are beautiful, honest portraits that are far from the traditional stilted photos with washed out skin tones and outdated backgrounds.
Booking begins with a brief phone or email consultation to get to know a little bit about you, and to determine which package would be most ideal for your wishes. Midori is the real deal. Even if you are nervous about having your picture taken, she gets such real emotion and beauty from every subject. She is patient and kind and an absolute pleasure to work with. She did my son's high school senior photos, and I look forward to having her do our next family portrait. Midori was so easy to work with. We wanted a photo from our son's senior picture session to go with our daughter's senior photo. She worked hard to ensure we had the perfect picture to hang next to our daughter's photo. She also made my son feel comfortable during the entire shoot...something that isn't always easy for an 18 year old! All of the pictures were so wonderful we had a difficult time choosing which pictures to print. I highly recommend Midori Joy Photography for your next photo shoot!

Midori captured the heart and energy of our family in her work. We selected her over several other options and we couldn't be happier. We had a huge group of 25 folks for our family reunion and she gathered a little bit of information about each person before hand. I loved her personal and intimate approach and this was reflected in the final product. Midori was able to create the environment to bring folks out and in their natural state. Not only do the photos feel authentic and alive, we all had a great time during the process.

Midori will impress you. I hired her for a professional project as well as family portraits. She delivered such awesome shots that really captured what was desired. The difference: caring to take the time to plan. For the professional project, she scouted a key site of the project to imagine lighting and scene options indoors and outdoors. She also chatted with me to learn about the project and what would represent it best. Similarly, for the family photoshoot, she spoke with us ahead by phone to learn about us and offer ideas for shots and props. She then captured the best expressions

Midori takes beautiful photos, but she does so much more. She brings out the absolute joy that my preteens try so hard to keep hidden. My three boys are tough nuts to crack. But Midori makes them feel so comfortable and so at ease that they don't even realize the camera is there. Midori is professional and kind and QUICK. She will be our go-to family photographer for many years to come.
