Bob's German Auto Repair was founded in 1986 by Robert (aka Bob) Garcia. In 1998, after bouncing around the Central Valley region, he officially made the 2230 N Wilson Way location his permanent home. At 15, Bob's son Joe decided to join his dad under the hood, and they have been working side by side for over 20 years. In July of 2019, Joe gained ownership of the shop, and Bob entered into "semi" retirement.
Services
Joe has worked side-by-side with his father Bob (previous owner of Bob's German) for over twenty years. Serving many types of vehicles from Volkswagen, to Audi, BMW and more! Dickie began working at Bob's German in 1998 when Bob brought the shop to its current location. He specializes in classic VW's, but is handy on all vehicles here at the shop.

Staff members were kind, courteous and professional, even though I only asked to borrow a gas can. I will definitely be bringing all of my future work to Bobs German.
I left the gas can next to the door of the shop. You guys were busy working and I did not want to take up any more of your time. Thank you.

Look elsewhere. I dropped my vw off here due to a knock sensor. long story short they couldn't fix it and charged me for a "new wiring harness" which came out to be about 1,100 bucks. At that point I just wanted the car out of their hands asap! Not to mention you have to call repeatedly to even get some sort of update. This place is a joke and odds are they will not be in business too much longer.

I have a. '68 Beetle and finding someone to work on it in the Stockton area is not easy. But Bob"s German has taken care of that for me. I had Jim do some body repair work for me and I couldn't be happier with the results. He was knowledgeable and gave me a fair assessment of the project. All in all I was very pleased.

Super honest. They have repaired my vehicle a couple times and it has always been less expensive than I thought. Most recently, they could not repair it and charged me $0.00 after having it over 24 hours not even a diagnostic. I really appreciate that level of honesty, it’s not really something auto repair places are known for so it’s very refreshing when you find it.

Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Value
I would stay away from this place. The owner is incompetent. He could not even properly tighten a cover. Said cover was falling off as I was driving southbound on the 99 freeway. I had to stop in the middle of the freeway to literally take it off as it was dangling from the bottom of my car.

OLD SHOP. OWNER is a old man paying his overpayed son. If you like dealing with that typical bargain shop then shop here with Mr. Bob who does not care about his business any more and just loves his retirement. Your VW is not in good hands if left here. They are unreliable and will not tell you that they use used refurbished products to help up profit on their cheap labor. Just go to another Vw shop in the near by cities. As you can tell from the reviews above, he has gone to court more than once to protect his small margins. I got work done to 2004 Jetta timing belt, water pump and power steering

Horrible customer service, Superior male complex and I will never ever take my bettle back to that shop again! Flat told me I had crappy American spark plugs and that's why my car was misfiring. I actually told him everything I thought it was (spark plug wires, air intake check engine light on and needed a smoke test, defrost wasn't working and ac never worked even when I bought the car) so they pulled my check engine wires off and another part out from under the dash on the other side and didn't put them back. I was never called and told when my car was done, after almost a week

I recently had my car towed to this shop. It was a Saturday nearing the 12 o'clock hour and he was nice enough to wait for the tow to come before he closed up. I was so grateful as I am not from the area and needed the get the car to a nearby VW shop. Bob, the owner, said he'd call me Monday after he looked under the hood. He called and said he'd have to take the transmission out to see what was wrong because he couldn't diagnose without going in. He said it would be $180. That's when things started to go downhill. When he called to tell me what he found, he told me what

Thank you Bob's German, for always treating me right your service is the best. I don't know where I'd be if I hadn't found Bob's. I bought my beetle new, not realizing the horrors id go through taking it to my dealership first (VW hammer) and every other place. It was literally nightmare after nightmare. But that all stopped when I found Bob's German and I will never take my car to another place again.

Bob's German is the best shop in town. I have taken my Passat to Bob's for about 5 years and they can do it all. I have had regular maintenance , transmission replaced and a engine rebuild that all went great. Bob treats me like family. He is very straightforward and half the price of the dealer. They use factory parts and are experts on VW! My car is always done quickly and everything is explained in detail. So thankful I have found a trustworthy mechanic.

This man is a crook! My wife took her vw to this guy and he quoted us $1500 for a cracked head gasket. When i got involved he was immediatly rude and did not want me involved and it showed. He was pushy, a liar and flat out rude. When the dealer advised us that it may just be an oil cooler, we asked Bob and he then got very fidgety and tried charging us an additional diagnostic fee to check it. Why wasnt this checked initially before GIVING AN ESTIMATE AND DIAGNOSIS OF CRACKED HEAD GASKET. Hes a liar! We took it to vw dealer and sure was the oil cooler. DONT TRUST THIS CROOK!
