They're absolutely amazing. But you know the saying: you get what you pay for. You're gonna pay a lot. But it's great care.

2 months ago....Spent 10 mins on hold, only to spend another 15 mins just to provide my basic contact info because the lady kept talking over me. She didn't seem too happy to be taking the call in the first place. After she got all my info, she said that she was transferring me to the girl that processes payments because there's a $50 fee collected in order to hold the appointment. "DON'T YOU THINK YOU SHOULD'VE TOLD ME THAT BEFORE I WASTED 25 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH YOU BEING RUDE???" She needs to improve her customer service skills big time and this place needs to change their process to advise

This place is absolutely, positively awful. I wanted to stick with it after the change in ownership, especially because I had a chronically I'll pet with complex medical needs. It didn't feel like it was an option, so I ignored the awful service, the exorbitant prices, the ridiculous policies implemented without not much thought or care for customers. I also stayed because despite the new pricing-gouging ownership, the techs were all particularly kind and great with my pet. I always tried to prioritize their needs because even if I'm annoyed, their comfort is a small sacrifice. But I've had enough

The only problem I have with this place is their check in system is awful. I’ve been here since 9am and am still waiting outside with my cat for my 9am appointment and it’s almost 10am. This is the second time this has happened. Would be a lot better and efficient if we could fill the paperwork out online beforehand that way we could just drop our animals off in the morning for whatever service they need and still get to work on time.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value
They need to find a person who can be professional when answering the phone. I have been a long time customer and I was treated so rudely I couldn’t believe it. It’s to bad it changed hands because it’s not the same anymore. I wouldn’t take my dog here if I were you. I would find a place that at least shows professionalism.

Dr. Wilkerson and his team do a superb job of treating our aging dogs. They are sensitive both to the needs of the animals as well as the costs associated with treatment and offer alternatives as appropriate. We appreciate their expertise and prompt assistance with our pets' needs.

I've gone to Girard Vet Clinic a few times now with my two dogs. It was mostly convenience because I just moved to the neighborhood.
For the most part, everyone has been very friendly. However, since COVID, things have seemed to go a little downhill. I understand why they are not allowing people inside the building until their appointment time, but last time I was there I was left waiting outside for almost 1.5 hours after my appointment was to start. It's not easy standing outside with two dogs with no where to sit for 1.5 hours.
When we do finally see the doc, they are friendly enough

Dr. Tancredi was kind and answered all my questions when I brought in my newly-adopted heartworm-positive dog. Metered street parking isn't too hard to find within a block.

Wow I really have to search for a new vet. first appt with them was pretty good, doctor and staff was great. second and last appointment where do I start... first the doctor Dr.Stephanie Haugen VM made me feel like I was going to hell if I did not neuter my dog. its something that I am highly considering but it is still a choice. you can tell me the benefits of neutering a dog without making me feel wring for if I decided not to telling me how many unwanted dogs their are in the world. I never told her twas neutering him she just took it upon her self to tell me on his next visit the things he

The doctors are professional as they stay on the phone as long as possible to answer all your questions I had questions concerning Hazelnut. They made sure I understood what they were going to do. I love this place.

I tell everyone I know to go to Girard! Everyone there is so thoughtful: vets, vet techs, receptionists. Our cat went through a really challenging cancer diagnosis that she unfortunately did not survive. But in the three months we were treating her, we felt so supported and cared for by everyone at Girard. Dr. Wilkerson kept up regular communication with VSEC doctors, so we were able to avoid the higher priced option of taking her to the animal hospital for the most part. Special shout-out to receptionists Quiana and Leigha for their senses of humor and kindness, they really made the whole thing

Best vet in Philly by far. As the owner of a Pit mix this the first vet that didn't make us feel like Pits are scary or bad. Super kind staff - Albert and Rebecca particularly! Cannot recommend this place enough.

My poor dog has been sick for a month with a treatable illness (thyroid). I've been begging them to treat her.

They keep running expensive tests, but never call me back with the results. I've physically gone into the office and begged them to help her. I keep getting "the doctor will call you". It never happens.

My dog has gotten worse and worse. She has become incontinent. I have to buy a new couch and bed. The poor girl was on her side in a puddle of urine when I got home today.

She is suffering horribly, for no reason other than a true lack of professionalism and

I just visited this clinic yesterday on a whim. I am a first time kitten owner and have never taken a pet to the vet so I wasn't sure where to begin. The lady on the phone was kind and helpful and even was able to take my kitty by appt the same day. Within 2hrs I was in their waiting room. Relatively small for what I was expecting. I was attended not long after. Rebecca took my girls temp and did her bloodwork and vaccines in such a sort time. She was so kind and my kitty seemed to really like her. The doctor only spent maybe 10mins max w my girl and really didn't engage with us so that

This is the third time I am updating my review and hopefully the last time as we will not be coming here anymore. We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Weiner as I posted in my first review several years ago then I had a simply horrible experience with an older woman vet who chastised me like a small child for using my phone during our office visit.(See previous review below) Most recently we had a bad experience with Dr. Wilkerson who spent hardly any time with us at all when we went with real concerns for our cat. He seemed rushed to get in and out of the room and just ordered a full panel

Girard Veterinary will NOT release prescriptions and requires their customers to purchase through their in-house store (Vet's First Choice). The prices are HIGH and they do not price match with Chewy or Petmeds, who I typically like to order with. They have a whacked out $10 "handling" charge that is added on to all their orders, whether or not you pick up in the store AND even with their Sales/Rebates the prices are significantly higher than purchasing from other vendors. There are too many issues and surprises with this Vet & I will not be returning.

I have mixed feelings about this vet. First thing to make clear: this is NOT a low cost clinic - it couldn't even be described as affordable. The location and facilities might lead you to believe it would be affordable. It did me. I live in the Fairmount neighborhood, and I ruled out The Cat Doctor, also in my hood, figuring this humble-looking clinic on West Girard would be a more affordable option. But the truth is, every time I go there, I pay at least $400 for my two cats. AT LEAST $400 and EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's very stressful for someone that loves her cats like humans but is generally

My cat was diagnosed with urinary crystals and it was recommended that he start a prescription diet. I was buying the food directly from Girard's website until I found out it's way cheaper and more convenient to order from Chewy. The thing is, Girard is refusing to release the prescription because they want me to keep buying it through them. It's a difference of $30 PER ORDER on food that is already very expensive. They said it's standard practice for vets not to release the prescription for a third-party purchase but I asked around and not only is that completely untrue, it

Girard had a nerve to post on FB yesterday( after weeks) regarding.y PrettyGirl Prada. If it were left up to them my furbaby would be dead! I asked them, which is what AAVSB said to do, ask them for their insurance so I can inform their insurance company that I will be going forward with a lawsuit with Girard Veterinary Clinic. Girard Veterinary Clinic has yet to return 1 phone call!! They duck my calls and WILL NOT CALL ME BACK!! I pray that all who have furbabies please think twice before walking into that place! Because they sure have no live for furbabies! Wrong answers and over charging is

I've definitely experienced better.
Had a new patient visit and waited more than 60 minutes in the waiting room. Ended up with a parking ticket because of this.
Also was charged $70 for dewormer, and I looked online and I can get the same medication from Chewy for $5. SERIOUSLY?
My new patient visit for my dog was more than $250 with two vaccines. Absolutely ridiculous! I was told this place was affordable. It is NOT.

Speechless.

I paid over $300 and would like to express that the girl cashing people out was unfriendly and rude. I actually feel bad for the other receptionists that work with her. She should have taken the time to talk me through my invoice. Instead she just blurted the amount I owed-- without even giving me the bill. Really? Who hands over $300 + without knowing what they're paying for?! No "thank you", no nothing. I work in the service industry and would NEVER treat anyone like that. And because of her-- I won't go back.

Whoever answered the phone was really nice
