Services
Dr. Desai recommends for children to have their first visit to the dentist between their 1st and 2nd birthdays. This will help acclimate your child to the dental office, as well as allow us to treat any areas of concern. Primary teeth, also known as baby teeth, are much smaller than permanent teeth so there is less tooth structure shielding the nerve within.
Frequent hygiene appointments and home care are necessities to maintain your oral health. Most insurance plans allow members to receive two hygiene recalls a year, often at no cost to the patient. After our hygienist has finished the cleaning, Dr. Desai will perform his exam, as well as review all available radiographs and pictures taken with our with you.
We offer patients restorative services that are both cosmetic and functional. These services may be in the form of a "tooth-colored" filling to crown and bridge restorations. We have the ability to restore implants, and even have specialists within walking distance of our office to provide implant consultations.
Dr. Desai received advanced training during residency in endodontics, which is the field of dentistry commonly known as root canals. Technology has propelled endodontics into becoming a much more enjoyable dental treatment. Rotary endodontics shorten appointment times and warm gutta percha methods more efficiently seal the root canals.
At Shandon Family Dentistry, Dr. Desai provides both routine and emergency, same-day oral surgery treatment. Doctoral training in oral surgery as well as his postgraduate residency in a hospital has provided him with extensive experience in extracting teeth with regard to his patients' medical conditions.

I cannot say enough about this dentist office. It was almost surreal. From the staff, to the dentist was an AWESOME experience. And they also worked with me on the bill. They were very concerned about doing the stuff that needed to be done while keeping the low price in mind. Dr Desai was absolutely terrific, I had six teeth pulled and had no pain. I highly recommend them! Like I said they did so much more than I expected. They are now my dentist.

I love this practice. Unfortunately I had a poor experience with a dentist in another state and was hesitant to find a practice when moving to Columbia, SC. From the front desk to to exam room, the staff and the dentist have made my now 4th cleaning an excellent and comforting experience. I highly recommend Shandon Family Dentistry.

I’ve been going here for years and have always had a positive experience. Dr. Desai is great: thorough, intentional, and genuinely friendly. The hygienists are always good, but I’m writing this review today because of my wonderful experience with Courtney. I left with cleaner teeth and a lighter mood thanks to her skill and kindness.

These place is terrible, they gave a list of issues which seemed suspicious. I got a 2nd opinion and the other dentist told me the opposite. This dentist is A SCAM, also if you leave a bad review they will email you threatening you to take it down... sorry this is America, freedom of speech... AVOID THIS DENTIST HE IS A THEIF

The staff was very kind and helpful throughout my visit. They all genuinely cared about my well being and making sure to setup a plan in oder for me to have confidence in my smile again. The dentist was very caring, reassuring, professional, and gentle. Even during my extractions the assistant was there to remind me to breathe and helped me get through it since she knew i was nervous. Will definitely be going back, and looking forward to the long journey we will have together. Thank you to the entire staff for making me feel comfortable! I couldn't ask for a better team to take care of me.

I just got home from my appointment and am thoroughly impressed! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. The hygienists were very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Desai went the extra mile!! They explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. Most of my questions were probably silly, but they took the time to explain things to me and were very genuine in their responses. I am so glad my friend Tobi recommended Shandon Family Dentistry to me. I highly recommend!!!
