Washington Square Animal Hospital has been a fixture In Greenwich Village since Dr. Ben Rosenfeld opened it in 1962. It is located in the same brownstone on 9th Street off Fifth Avenue and continues to serve the area's residents as the neighborhood vet. Dr. Lucas started working there in 1980 and purchased the practice in 1982.
Washington Square is a full-service animal hospital providing complete medical, surgical and dental services for dogs and cats. Several of the nursing staff have been with WSAH since Dr. Lucas purchased the practice while others have been a part of the practice for years and years. David is the head nurse, Jane is the night nurse and Yvette is the day nurse.

Dr Ann Lucas grew up on a farm in Chester County, Pennsylvania and always wanted to be a veterinarian, albeit a large animal one.
After attending Reed College in Portland, Oregon, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1975 and completed both her one-year internship and medical residency programs at the Animal Medical Hospital in 1980 when it was owned by Dr. Lewis Berman and purchased the practice in 1982.In these 40 years, Dr. Lucas has had the privilege of working with long-standing clients and generations of beloved pets.
