Services
Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital is Arizona's first and largest exotic pet exclusive veterinary hospital. It is a full-service hospital providing advanced medical, surgical, and boarding services. We are staffed with highly trained compassionate staff who have spent many years caring for a wide range of exotic pets.
Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital provides a full range of veterinary and boarding services to all kinds of exotic pets. We treat and board small mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and more. Arizona state law requires us to have our client's date of birth to dispense certain types of medications, such as pain relievers, sedatives and others.
Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital relocated our North Phoenix location to a brand new and much more spacious location in April of 2021. When you walk into the spacious waiting room you will notice what makes it different from many other hospitals. It is quiet and roomy. There are no barking dogs that are the background noise common in small animal hospitals.
We are staffed with highly trained and experienced exotic pet doctors and veterinary technicians. We do not see dogs and cats which allows for a better focus on the pets we do see. We provide basic to advanced veterinary care. Video endoscopy, ultrasonography, high definition digital radiography, radiosurgery, and other special equipment are available to help your pet.
Are you planning a trip or going on vacation soon? Let us help ease your mind about your pet's care while you're away. Our highly trained and experienced staff will provide excellent care for your pet that is tailored to his or her specific needs. We have spacious enclosures for most of the different species of pets we see including birds, reptiles, hamsters, rats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs and many more!

Misdiagnosed. Won’t answer a phone when there’s a life/death scenario. My baby is dead at 6 months, we were in the doctors office 3 hours, my baby was wheezing when he chirped and the doctor said he might have pneumonia. Sent us off with medicine and that was it. No breathing treatment, no nebulizer, nothing. I woke up today to my little baby that had so much life ahead of him at the bottom of the cage with no air inside his little body. He looked up at me and did his little head nod saying goodbye to his bestfriend and laid his head down. Why was my baby that was having trouble breathing not

This was the worst place I have ever taken our animals.
My daughter bunny got sick so we took her here to get help! All we got was a massive bill with unnecessary tests. So our bunny was sick and told us she had an infection so as we wanted to get her better they told us they needed to do blood test and x-ray to know more, we never got the blood test and x-ray showed her bladder was swollen, so they gave her fluids for dehydration and then told us she needed so much medication to get better. Over all we paid about $950 dollars! To come home and for her to pass away in less them 12hrs later. They

On 11/4/21 I experienced this hospital for the very first time. My first impression was that the hospital is beautiful and clean with a friendly staff.
The two stars is because of events that transpired. As it sits- I took my tree frog in for a URI. His eyelid was up and the doctor told me that she safely wanted to look at the eye. When she returned my pets eye was significantly worse than when I brought him in.
Two weeks later and I am pretty sure I will either have to euthanize or do an enucleation- eye removal. This surgery is not cheap and pretty evasive.

Where do I even start it’s been a rough couple days. My little furry rat friend jumpy wasn’t doing so good. I didn’t have money for a emergency vet last night but today, even it being Saturday and it being busy busy they we’re able to get my little guy and I squeezed in and unfortunately the outcome was not what I had hoped but was for the best.
Dr. Giles was absolutely wonderful through it all. So was all the staff. I could not be more appreciative of the help and care and compassion I saw today. Thank you all for doing what you do. If I could give 12 million stars I totally would it

When I couldn’t find an avian doctor for my cockatiel this veterinarian clinic took me in right away at the last minute. The veterinarian was amazing! She was patient, kind, empathetic, and quick! The staff checked in on my pet the very next day! They also answered any questions I had. The clinic is well maintained and super clean. I would highly recommend bringing your loved one here!

Dr. Giles and the staff at Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital are amazing!
The office staff, techs and Veterinarians work together to make sure your pet is taken care of in the best way possible from scheduling your appointment to checkout; they're always professional, friendly, and helpful. Their medical knowledge and experience with exotic animals is extraordinary; it's not just dogs & cats...it's  tortoises, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, snakes, iguanas, lizards, fish, chickens,  ducks, rabbits, ferrets, rats, hedgehogs, birds, goats, pot bellied pigs...and more! I took my hen in because she was not feeling well. Dr Giles told us what we had already feared. We would need to put our chicken down. She did give us some alternatives and possibilities but the outcomes would most likely not be favorable. We made the decision to put our hen down for the comfortability of the chicken. It was an easy appointment to book from the beginning. Easy online forms. The process went smoothly through the end. The facility is very nice. I would take back another hen if I needed to.

Our first visit was great! Our little guinea had been sick since July. She almost died 3 times! We had been to our vet here in Sierra Vista every week since then but because they are a small clinic they did not have all the necessary equipment to run tests on her. So we came here to Arizona exotic animal hospital for answers. Dr. Brown and her team were amazing! They took very good care of our guinea and made us feel very comfortable with every step. From the time we walked in we were treated so well. I got to know Dr. Brown a bit and she is such a cool person. We are happy to say that our sweet

If I could give 0 stars I would. I called this morning because I am pretty sure my animal is dying.
Kennedy answered the phone and couldn't have been ruder. She sounded annoyed, hungover, and inconvenienced that I called.
I asked for an emergency appointment and she wasn't helpful, kind, or apologetic at all. I ended up not even making an appointment because I felt sickened by how I was treated.

Kennedy should be fired for her nasty & miserable attitude. If you clearly don't like animals or your job, don't work front desk at an animal hospital.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! I am mind blown and their prices and how much they have jipped me.
My husband and I have brought out bunnies here a couple of times. My first time we spent $300 for a Medical exam for our Holland lop, experience was okay but the appointment was about 2.5 hours long just to check on my bunny. 7 months later I bring in my other bunny for fleas and spent another $300, they told us that the appointment would only be 30 min long and my husband was here for over 2 hours. 1 week later I bring my other bunny in to get her vaccinated since last week they told us the pricing

Took my Red Tegu in for a check up because his stools were runny. They sent me with meds for him. Problem was it was only 7 days Worth of 10. The scrip was for 10. After running out and telling them that I was shorted 3 days they tried to charge me another 60$ for the 3 days they shorted me. Not happy. Their manager will be hearing from me. Plus I waited 2 hours in their arctic tundra of an exam room before finally getting out of there. We will not be heading back there. FAIL for them.

I've been to many vets with my parrots over past 25 years, in multiple states. Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital is one of the best vets I've seen for exotic pets like my birds. I think my bird actually liked the staff, and she was calm and handled with care and confidence through her entire experience. Really great staff and vet. Highly recommend for parrots. If you have exotic animals, it is best to go somewhere where they see these type of animals regularly and get lots of experience with them.

I am not a person to that typically leaves reviews, but I was so impressed by the staff and vet at this place today. I called last minute on a weekend and they made it work, everyone was so kind and pleasant. DrB made me feel so at ease and helped me understand everything that was going on with my rabbit. Mesa is a little bit of a drive for me but totally worth it. I'll be taking all my animals here from now on.

Brought in my 15 year old Sulcata Tortise for a check up, she had a runny nose. Dr. Deng looked her over and made some suggestions as her nose was not runny any longer. There were a couple things that it could have been, but we decided to hold off on any antibiotics or xrays for the moment as she was not showing symptoms. The staff up front was cordial as was the technician and doctor. My only issue was the time to took to square away the payment and release. It took about 20 with me staying back in the exam room with a tortoise who wanted to go home. Other than that, the team did a great job and

I will not be returning to this vet! This is a bummer because I liked Dr. Lamb, who saw my rabbit but charging a $50 late few for being late 11 mins is ridiculous! I understand $15-20 but $50 is as much as the appointment was.

I have never had an exotic animal before, so when I got my pet bunny I did a lot of research and found this place. To be honest, there weren't many reviews with bunnies so I was a little hesitant, but they seemed good in their reviews so I proceeded. I have taken my bunny here three times, the first time was his first check up, and he ended up having coccidia. They were very helpful and provided me with all the necessary medication to treat him, and even gave me a student discount. I was very nervous, but they even called me and checked up with me a day after my appointment to see how we were

These people are absolute THIEVES! Our local vet & friend could not see our bunny so we brought her here for a case of Snuffles (common bunny congestion). We clearly love our bunny which they used to their advantage and inflated the price astronomically. Their first option was to allow them to do some x-rays on her and then treat her for $1700, but they strongly suggested we leave her overnight for $3000. To put it in perspective, I just had a hysterectomy and my out-of-pocket cost was less than $3000!

We are fortunate to have friends who are veterinarians who let us know this is completely

We have been bringing our tortoise here for years for his annual pre-hibernation check-up. Usually, we make an appointment and haul him to the office where we're assigned an exam room. They take measurements and run some tests, then we pay the bill and head home.

During the pandemic, things changed a bit and we were met in the parking lot where we filled out the paperwork and waved goodbye as he was taken inside for the usual tests. Then he was returned to us outside with the initial analysis while we waited for the test results and handled payment.

We haven't had any problems with

They were so friendly and very thorough when it came to treating my hedgehog, Pokey. Recently, Pokey had to be put down (he had cancer) and they were very sensitive and compassionate throughout that process as well. They even sent me home with his footprints so I can have a little memorial of him. I will definitely recommend them to anyone I can.

To be abundantly clear, I am only able to speak to my experience at the Mesa - Center St. location (pilot location, as I have been made to understand).

AEAH is one of the sole clinics in Phoenix with ability to provide RHDV2 vaccination for domestic rabbit-friends; a fact which I was overjoyed with gratitude for having learned by way of the Brambley Hedge Rabbit Rescue. I scheduled an appointment for both of my house buns shortly after learning of this availability of the vaccine, and the clarity of process, pricing and scheduling was commendably straight forward.

The problem is, on that initial

The worst vet clinic I have ever been to. I have 10 animals currently, i foster and have had up to 23 at a time before. I work closely with vet clinics. This clinic has not only been the most expensive one, but their customer service is terrible. I had my roommate take one of my ferrets to get her dental cleaning done today. They tried to charge me like a $15 fee to use my card over the phone, which I have never had before. I rarely am the one that takes the animals to the vet, so I pay over the phone all the time. I asked them why they don't have the fee on their website and they said "

We are super thankful to both the vet and vet tech that treated our 3 month old Netherland Dwarf rabbit, Luna, last night around 10pm. She was showing signs of GI stasis, was very weak, and barely breathing.

It was curbside due to coronavirus but we never felt separated from the treatment process and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The vet tech showed us how to syringe feed and administer multiple different medications (it was also determined she had parasites) and was very nice to us. Pulling up, I mentioned Luna wasn't breathing well and as soon as the vet tech took Luna back,

Even though this is quite the drive for me and I have to pack up my covered wagon in advance, it's so worth it. The hospital itself is very easy to find and has ample parking. Setting up the wellness appointment was easy enough and checking in was painless.

I was sent to the exam room and I'd like to note
