As if going through something traumatic wasn't difficult enough, the lasting effects of it can become exhausting. You may be left questioning the phrase, 'time heals all wounds' as you maneuver through life with uninvited thoughts & images popping up, new fears, and perhaps new extra-tense physical reactions.
If something distressing has happened in your life and you're wishing you could go back to how things were 'before' the event and finally get a nightmare-free sleep, then you're in the right place. I will provide you with effective ways to cope through life today as well as heal the source of the emotional pain to give you relief that lasts.

I remember knowing that I wanted to make peoples lives better. I feel like becoming a therapist was part of me since I was little and it was bound to happen. Becoming a physical therapist may not have been that far off base as I am intrigued by and continue to learn more about how we store trauma in our bodies and how I can incorporate that into sessions (so stay tuned!).
I specialize in treating trauma and the lasting impacts that it has on people. If you have a certain set of symptoms as a result of an experience then it's called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The word 'trauma' is often misunderstood and as you read you will find that I can help to erase the effects of many types of experiences, even if you may not necessarily assign the word 'trauma' to them.
The word 'trauma' is often misunderstood- many people believe that someone must have gone through an extremely scary or life-threatening situation in order for it to have been traumatic. However, as we learn more about ourselves and how our brains work we have realized that this is not the case. Many things that happen in life can be traumatic.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based, highly productive method of therapy that uses your brain's natural healing process as the primary tool to treat traumatic and impactful experiences. It can bring quick and lasting relief to a variety of mental struggles and pains.
Whether or not you have been to therapy before, there are many different styles and approaches so below is a general idea of what you can expect from meeting with me. Please complete the paperwork located in the client portal, which will allow us more time during our first session to start on what you would like to focus on.
