Dr. Zylstra received his B.S. in Veterinary Science from Michigan State University in 1988 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1992. He grew up in Grandville, MI and graduated from Calvin Christian High School. During Veterinary school, he developed a passion for Cardiology and Ultrasonography, pursuing both areas of study after graduation through specialized continuing education classes.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Their prices are higher than other vet offices, for one. We had originally been a part of the vaccines for life that gave us the 4 core vaccines free every year with paid exam fee, but we were unable to get updated shots during the pandemic and we were not allowed to continue the service due to that. They are no longer doing the vaccines for life for new patients and apparently not for old ones either. When I said I would have to look for services elsewhere, they didnt try to keep my business or offer any deals. We found another vet that is cheaper with very friendly staff: Animal Clinic, Inc.

Brought my older dog in for teeth cleaning and had to get 15 extractions. They were thoroughly professional and took very good care of her. The team went over all the information and was very detailed and did a great job. highly recommend and also recommend that you get their teeth cleaned once a year!

It bums me out to give a 2 star review here, but definitely necessary after the disrespect that we encountered after 4+ years of trust and loyalty to Kentwood Veterinary Clinic.
Our first few years seeing Dr. Zylstra with our sweet, playful Chocolate Lab were great. Dr. Zylstra is great at what he does. However, in the last year or so I began to notice that the vet techs would take Bentley to another room for her weight, then would come back some time later and ALL of her procedures (vaccines, eye exams, cyst removal, depending on what we were there for at the time) would all be done by the time
