Power Engineering
Since 1958, Power Engineering Company has been the name which means quality and service in remanufactured crankshafts. Experience and leadership in industrial hard chrome plating goes into every remanufactured crankshaft produced. Nearly fifty highly skilled employees work at our specially designed and constructed 63,000 square foot facility in Denver Colorado.

Hard chrome plating adds years of life to worn and damaged crankshafts. Power Engineering's chrome plating process builds up all bearing surfaces on the crankshaft with one of the hardest plating materials developed. Chromium is a reliable, long lasting metal which resists galling seizing and abrasions.
Services
Power Engineering Company specializes in industrial hard chrome plated crankshafts. Our unique preparation methods successfully salvage and restore crankshafts other companies often consider beyond repair. Hard chrome plating adds years of life to worn and damaged crankshafts. After disassembly and cleaning, connecting rods are magnetic particle inspected for cracks and shot peened in a custom-built machine. We grind or mill the parting faces on the big-end before reassembly and honing to size. When the big-end is completed the old bushing is replaced and the connecting rod is pin-bored to correct diameter and center-to-center distance.
At the heart of Power Engineering's business is Industrial Hard Chrome Plating. Chrome plating is accomplished through an electrochemical reaction. A low DC voltage is applied between electrodes and the part being plated while submerged in chromic acid plating solution. Chromium ions are driven from the solution and deposited onto the part.
Thermal spray coating is an alternative to hard chrome plating and is also used to coat or build up surfaces. We recommend this process for restoring cast iron shafts. In the above images, repairs to worn journals made of ductile cast iron are accomplished using a Thermo high energy plasma spray system.
Power Engineering Company is focused on repairing crankshafts, camshafts and connecting rods; however, we also have vast experience in repairing and restoring many other types of products. The list includes hydraulic rams, rollers and a variety of other special purpose components. Worn surfaces such as keyways, tapers, threads, etc. may be restored by welding and subsequent machining operations.
