Do not recommend. They are not responsible to emails, often requires multiple pings to get a response. The accountant we worked with didn't know the property tax deduction details for singles as joint tenants and I had to point this out to her - we would have paid thousands more each person per year if I didn't told her the facts. We asked her to do some calculations of how much marriage penalty we'd have, she basically hand waved, didn't even glance at her compute and said some crazy number like hundreds of thousands more, which was not true for our incomes.

I do not recommend. The accountant, partner, that we worked with was completely unprofessional and unresponsive. In our initial meeting we were given an approximate fee schedule, which we agreed to.However shortly after the invoices started coming in faster than we could have imagined. Once we inquired about charges and fees our emails went unanswered. After the last inquiry, I was sent a second engagement letter underlining the section that said (and I paraphrase) "trust our professional judgement." Matt represents the worst in tax accounting - I got my taxes done 2 years ago and paid about $500 dollars for fairly vanilla tax returns.( 2 w-2s with hone, mortgage and donations with minor foreign bank account). Tax savings delivered were not different from the turbo tax I did myself but I was ok with it.

Wheeler Accountants is the rebranded continuation of LMGW, a small/mid sized accounting firm that has existed in the bay area for years. My employer has worked with LMGW for years, and the next generation is taking the firm in a great direction. Good for personal taxes, business taxes, and fiduciary accounting assistance.

This is our second year now working with Jaclyn Skull and she's done wonderful work for us twice. So glad that we've found our CPA!
I've found that anything beyond single-source income makes taxes get really complicated, really fast. Trying to save a buck, I tried my hand at Turbo Tax for a few years to manage a home business alongside investments, but I ended up with a lot of questions and a lot of dead ends... which cost me a lot of money to the government, money that I now suspect I may not have really owed. For over 30 years, Roberta Schmalz has done my taxes. Complicated and lengthy, I was no match for the changes in the tax code. Roberta was on top of it like no one else, She has since retired as of last month, but I would highly recommend this firm and it's attention to it's clients to anyone needing tax advice, planning or returns done.

Excellent service and a pleasure to work with. Mr. Wheeler helped me to organize my tax accounts in order to make my annual taxes easy. In addition, he found several opportunities for me to save some money that my previous accountants had no idea about. They send me updates throughout the year that keep me up with my filings. As a self employed business owner it really is a pain, but they have helped to make it easier.

Wow, this company just keeps getting better and better! We've been with LMGW for 28 years now. We watched as father passed the business off to his son over the years. They always deliver that little extra service. This year was a real treat to work with Michael Johnson. He helped us with our son's out of state, somewhat complex filing as a complimentary service. I have to echo the remarks of some other reviewers here by agreeing that working with LMGW went from being a pleasure to an absolute nightmare following the retirement of our original accountant. The work on our 2014 returns was shoddy and the communication non-existent. We ended up having to pay penalties due to mistakes made by them. We will never use them again.

We have had excellent service from LANGE and Matt Wheeler for over ten years. Matt is knowledgeable, thorough, and helpful when we have made errors.
I like their online system. You enter your tax info (which takes some time to collect and enter), and as a result your time with the CPA is much more focused and efficient.
Matt is pleasant and responsive. We are extremely happy with our service.

I agree with the reviewer who said unless you get a senior partner to work on your account, you'll get pretty poor service here. The junior person who worked on our account never returned phone calls. In addition, mistakes were made in preparing the taxes.

We had a very good experience with LMGW. We hired the to file our taxes (4W2s plus a private business) and they did a great job. The contacted us via email or phone if they had questions regarding transactions but besides that the filing process was very smooth and without any problems.
The had the papers ready in time and provided us with a nice booklet for our reference. We paid $500 for our filing which is not cheap but looking at the service we received absolutely reasonable.

Roberta has been my tax person for over 32 years and I wouldn't dream of changing to another CPA. Highly professional and more than willing to give great advice when necessary. I have worked with LMGW for over a decade, across three different successful companies that I have either started, or been a part of starting. They have done both my company and personal tax work. They were recommended to us by a valley insider, and we're glad we went with them. At one point, I went with a different firm, just for proximity to SF. Big, huge mistake. I had become used to LMGW's flawless expertise (have worked with both David Wheeler and Kevin Madej). The SF accountant not only charged us an outrageous fee, he made a mistake in our return that had us paying 40% more

I called and scheduled an appointment for tax filing. The person responsible took down all my information, name, phone, address and we scheduled a time. The person also said someone would call me the next day to talk before I came on taxes. No calls came and it was a bit of concern.
Nevertheless, I showed up for my appointment promptly on time with my documents. Surprise!! There is no scheduled appointment. Let alone the appointment, no records of my name or any of my details. I didn't exist according to them.

Kevin Madej and his staff have done my personal tax returns for 5-6 years now. He's done a superb job. Their practice is reasonably priced and I find him to be a very knowledgeable, experienced, and personable adviser.
Taxes aren't fun, but I don't mind them nearly as much with Kevin asking all the questions, catching all the opportunities for me, and completing all the forms. I've referred him to friends and would do so again!

After years of looking for a good CPA that understands my business, I finally found the right one in Matt Wheeler at LMGW. Matt worked up our returns quite quickly after I turned in all of my info in EARLY APRIL. We spoke about different options for my business expenses and he asked smart questions that I about the operation of my business. They are responsive between visits, give fast results, and can give constructive advice on possible savings if asked. Although I live 22 miles from their current office, I still use this firm.
