Probably the most reliable, honest and affordable place I’ve ever used. Besides the quote being the most reasonable out of several shops I spoke to, Ed and his crew had my car done in less than 48 hours on two separate occasions. Most of that time was only waiting for the parts needed. They did an excellent job on my car and the customer service was absolutely top notch! Every detail was explained before work was done and did I mention it was done shortly after the NEXT day I turned it in?!? Unheard of!! I’m so thankful I found S&H when looking for a mechanic in the Akron area. I was thinking of purchasing a truck from a nearby dealership remotely and wanted to arrange a pre-purchase inspection. They were busy, but Ed came out and knew exactly what the problem was, and explained it to me. I was pretty impressed, and within 10 minutes I was back on the road. Thank you, Ed!

Ed truly saved my wallet and my life today!!!! I have to work and have been taking the bus bus so I finally got my car towed to S and H Auto because Everyone and Auto-zone was Saying my alternator was bad because my car wouldn’t start sometimes BUT ED and his Crew tested my alternator and it was running like it was brand new, they checked my battery and the problem was that the battery wasn’t even installed right and the (screws) that hold the terminals together weren’t in there!!!!!!!! I have been going to these guys for a couple years now. I am originally from Michigan so I had to find a place to take my car when it first started to act up. They have helped me so much in the past and especially lately with making sure my car is in the right condition to drive back to see my family. They are really quick and professional. If you are new to the Akron area and need your car fixed I recommend them. If you have a time constraint just talk to them and they will work with you. These guys are really good.

Ed was amazing! I had taken my car to a dealership after I realized my water pump was leaking--they quoted me $1300 in repairs--I called this shop, and Ed offered to take a look--and ultimately came in at a much better price! I felt Ed was honest, letting me know the dealership was trying to fix things that didn't need fixed--and I appreciated his honesty. I felt like this was a garage that cares about taking care of their customers instead of trying to rip people off. Will be bringing my cars back in the future for any issues--Highly recommend!

This place was amazing! I was having trouble with my car making a knocking sound when I used the brakes. I was about to go back to New York. I had to get there that evening and I wanted to make sure I could get there safe. The mechanics at S&H found the problem, let me know that it was safe to drive on until I could get to my regular mechanic in New York and helped me get back in time. They were a pleasure to spend time with and they didn't charge me a cent. What a positive experience.

The first time I took my car to S & H Auto Repair, no problems, it was a simple oil change. (Also a change of clothes when I got home, because that place was super filthy, even for a mechanic's shop. The second time was different. I had an appointment to have my gas gauge fixed, as the needle wouldn't go quite all the way to the top when I filled the tank. They don't tell you that there are no appointments, they let you think you have one. But you still have to wait behind all the walk-ins. I waited an hour and 15 minutes for my "appointment". Best car auto repair service I've ever experienced. I took my car into S&H. I had an issue which I believed was bad wheel bearings. I called around to other places and the procedure from everywhere else happened to be so much more than what S&H were charging. I was on a tight budget do to me being a college student. As I dropped the car off, I later received a call saying I needed axles as well and a few other things. Some way, some how they managed to keep the price around the same and handled everything accordingly. My car drives so much better now. I really do appreciate their service

I highly recommend S&H for your auto repair needs. My daughter's older Buick was overheating late on a Thurs. afternoon and I called S&H based on the reviews. Being as it was late, Ed offered to wait for her to get a tow. After she dropped it off, they made sure she got back home safely. The price was more than fair and the work was done quickly. What a nice crew they have. When you have a college student away from home, it is nice to know they have someone trustworthy and caring when it comes to car repair. I bought a used car and had it inspected by Ed. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and fair. He gave me a diagnostic of the vehicle and showed me where I might have some issues in the future, without charging me an arm and a leg. He also gave me some tips on how to keep the car running at top performance.

There's a reason why this place has a unanimous 5 star rating. Ed helped my band in a pinch halfway through our cross country tour when our van's brake pads were totally shot. We had a 12 hour drive ahead of us to our next gig, and we were so worried we wouldn't be able to find a good mechanic in an unfamiliar city that was able to do the job in the time frame we needed AND at rate that fit within our extremely tight budget. We were dead wrong. If there was any city in the country to deal with a mechanical problem, I'm glad it was Akron and thank god to Yelp for leading us to

My daughter just moved to Akron. She called to say her exhaust system fell off on her way to work on a Saturday morning. I tried to find a place she could take it, but it was rather tough to do an a Saturday. I found S&H through Yelp actually, I called, and they said to get it towed to them. They gave me an estimate, and had the car fixed. It took a couple days, but hey, I can see why they were so busy. Great service. Within budget.
