North Iron Engineering (NIE) is an Alaskan owned and operated engineering firm specializing in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. NIE operates the states only commercial metallurgical and welding test lab. As our lab grows new process and test methods are implemented regularly. Test procedures that cannot be conducted in house are subcontracted to other local businesses, as well as our out-of-state partners as necessary.

Processing of metal pieces affect the mechanical properties of that part. Heating, beating, foraging, casting, and welding all leave unique signatures in the final product. We have extensive experience performing the mechanical and metallurgical analysis required to tell the story of how an assembly was manufactured.
