Richmond is my home now, but I grew up in Minnesota. I have a special place in my heart for my family cabin near Clearwater, Minnesota. That is the secret behind the name of my practice. You can see the four legged love of my life, Kaia Jean, with me at my cabin in Minnesota. In my free time I enjoy walking around Richmond with my dog, brunches on the weekend, hanging on the porch, and trips to the beach.
I earned my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Southern Illinois University, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. I completed my APA-accredited internship and a post-doctoral residency at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Counseling Services. During my internship and post-doctoral residency, I completed clinical concentrations in trauma and LGBTQ issues.

Services
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I provide both individual and couples therapy services. I also provide services through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). Services may be covered in full, or in part, by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. If you have a different insurance company (e.g., Aetna, Optum, MHN, United ect.) you may still have out of network coverage.
I can provide specialized clinical consultation to service agencies, provider groups, academic programs or individuals. I enjoy providing clinical consultation surrounding a wide variety of concerns. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and enjoy providing clinical case consultation and/or clinical supervision to other psychologists, counselors, or therapists.
I specialize in providing therapy to lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, and queer folks, as well as those questioning their sexual orientation. I support people questioning their sexual orientation in figuring out their attractions and help them explore their fears and concerns about sharing this information with others.
For many people scheduling a first therapy appointment can be intimidating. To help ease the process, your first step will be to contact me. You can use the contact function through this website or use e-mail. In your message, let me know a little bit about what brings you to counseling right now, so that I can tell you more about whether my practice is a good fit for your specific issues and concerns.
I am conducting sessions remotely using a secure video platform until it is safe for us to meet in person. You will need a computer or smartphone, a private area, and a good internet connection. If you must cancel an appointment, please do so as soon as possible. If you are unable to cancel at least 48 hours in advance, you will be charged a $50 fee for the session.
