I received my B.S. in Business from Troy State University in 1970, then completed law school at Cumberland School of Law in 1973.
I am married and have raised four children who have attended public schools in both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. After admission to the Florida Bar in 1973, I was enrolled to practice in the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court in 1974. I served on the Board of Directors of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association, was a certified Civil and Family Law Mediator.

In practice since 1973, I have been serving the individuals of Greater Pensacola, Florida, in a variety of legal areas. My career began upon graduation from the Cumberland School of Law in 1973. From there, I accepted a position with the office of the public defender. In that position, I gained valuable courtroom and trial experience which in turn affords me knowledge and insight that I exercise daily in each one of the various cases I take on.

I grew up in New York City and came South in 1964 through my enlistment in the U.S. Air Force. Never looking back, I decided to remain and finished my formal education at Troy State University (Troy, Alabama, 1970) and Cumberland School of Law, (Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama, 1973).

I still have those fires, and still advocate for the downtrodden, but these days I let the younger gladiators draw the blood.

Guys this place is horrible, Please don't trust this man at all, He keep dragging me every day. I legit had 20 days to reply in court.. every day Mr. Joel keep saying me that "I got you covered". But he kept saying that I am dealing with other party lawyer and collecting information keep trust him just 2 days before my court date, he legit stop answering the phone calls. If you are super busy then please don't accept wen clients if you cant handle that. AT the end of the day I trusted Mr. Joel and that guy kept lying to me and in court I ended up as default. Just because he said he is on track

Christian Ficarelli was my Attorny and one of the most professional and kindest person I have ever worked with. Stayed on top my case all the way thru which took 8 months ! But he never gave up and fought hard to get my family back into our home and a new roof over our heads . Never once did he back down when the insurance company try low ball and he got me what was owed to fix my home from hurricane damages . I haven't personal hired Joel M. Cohen as my lawyer because he didn't practice law for the area I needed. After explaining my case to him he recommended another lawyer to me. He called me back shortly after sharing some very helpful information about my situation. I believe that speaks very highly of him because he didn't have to go out of his way to do that, it didn't benefit him in any way. I would defiantly hire him If I need his expertise in the future.
