Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is among the oldest healing practices in the world. It is a whole medical system that has been practiced in China and other Asian countries for thousands of years. Acupuncture, the most popular modality of TCM here in the West, is a technique of inserting and manipulating fine sterile filiform needles into acupoints with the aim of unblocking Qi.
In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is linked to the belief that disease is caused by disruptions to the flow of energy, or qi, in the body. The qi then travels through channels called meridians. Historically, treatments date back to at least 100 B.C. when an organized system of diagnosis and treatment using needles was first described in writing in China.
Becoming an acupuncturist has been the natural evolution in Nanie's professional development and approach to medicine. Her dedication to helping patients while practicing massage therapy in California led her to the study of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She graduated from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, known for its Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) style acupuncture and herbal studies.

I've since moved away but saw Nanie for a year and a half an have come to appreciate her more after trying to find a suitable replacement in my new home city.
