New Leaf Counseling Services
The metaphor of turning over a new leaf represents transformation. It is my bone deep belief that it is possible to experience redemption and a new beginning regardless of the pain and hurts of our past when we are ready to do the work. I grew up in San Francisco and was raised by my maternal grandmother since my mother passed away when I was young.

I know what it is to feel abandonment yet I have also known great joy, a sense of belonging by taking the risk to connect with others, and the kindness of strangers. Throughout my varied life experiences which also includes my academic and professional work experience, I've gained a lot of insight and feel that it is helpful in my work with my clients.
Services
Welcome: I see you juggling work, family, relationships, and cultural identity while your self care has been placed on the back burner. As a woman of color, you may find yourself working twice as hard yet often getting half as much for your trouble. You want to live a full juicy life yet find yourself feeling stuck.
On-line appointments: Therapy from the comfort of your living room or home office! We can set your session over a secure video chat platform that is easy to use. All you need is a computer (or cell phone), an internet connection, webcam, and private space. Unfortunately, Medi-Cal does not reimburse for this option.
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I'll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing. The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally.
Intake Interview: $180 per 90 minute appointment. We will delve deep into your presenting concerns and background. Together you will set goals for treatment and agree on the frequency of subsequent therapy sessions. I am paneled with Beacon Partnership which provides coverage for those covered by Medi-Cal and Beacon Health Options (formally Value Options) offered to Kaiser members.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT is a short-term, problem-focused form of behavioral treatment that helps people see the difference between beliefs, thoughts and feelings, and free them from unhelpful patterns of behavior. CBT is grounded in the belief that it is a person's perception of events - rather than the events themselves - that determines how he or she will feel and act in response.

Professional, welcoming and accommodating therapy group. Scheduling is easy and appointments have flexibility for in-person or teletherapy visits. My therapist here has done wonders in helping me explore various thought processes, patterns, and tendencies - particularly through life changes and the pandemic. The understanding and support while diving into difficult topics creates an extremely safe space for expression and growth. I also indicated I have and welcome a sense of humor when dealing with and processing things, and have been pleased to find a therapist that will engage in humor to facilitate

Honestly took me 3 years to undo the trauma caused by this therapist. When I found someone else it was very apparent to me how careless she actually was. Maybe find someone else?
