We are creative documentarians. We observe stories unfolding before us as we artistically explore the meanings and emotions that permeate each moment. The posture of "documenting" speaks to our passion for exploring and experiencing life to its fullest. Our style is truly wrapped up in our name. An "atelier" is an artist studio, which points back to our passion for art.
And the best part is that our atelier follows us wherever we go, from our office in Portland, Oregon, to the wide world beyond. Over the years, my journeys throughout the world have solidified my interest in photography and filmmaking. In particular, trips to Nepal and Thailand throughout my twenties taught me the influence of images and stories on our worldviews.

My cinematography and filmmaking arise out of a passion to appreciate the experiences that shape our lives, both the mundane and the incredible. No matter how hard one may try on their own, every moment has the potential to be. The official music video for Me Dicen la Malandrina by Yissel Lopez was filmed on location throughout the Oregon landscape.
I'm so thankful that Oiselle asked me to document the journey of some of their sponsored athletes. It was an honor to see how each woman paid tribute to the "feminine fierce" quality that Oiselle celebrates. They sent me to the Portland. I was excited to work with Emma Kingston's team over at Center Gyrotonic.
Amaya and Jon celebrated their relationship by weaving together beautiful elements from both Catholic and Jewish traditions. They chose the Columbia Gorge Hotel as the perfect wedding venue and you'll see in their wedding video that they could not have. The slopes of Mt. Saint Helens were a stunning backdrop for celebrating Belle and Omar's marriage.
Looking back over our wedding this past July is only possible after the fact because we have such beautiful pictures and extensive video footage of the day!. Atelier is FANTASTIC and hands down one of the best vendors we hired for our wedding! They are so prompt with absolutely every communication - and when planning a wedding, that means everything!.

My wife and I hired Jonathan to document our wedding in March 2021. We recently celebrated our six-month wedding anniversary and watched our Wedding video for the first time. My wife is VERY happy because this video captured all the emotions and positive overtones of our wedding ceremony and our walk outside Timberline Lodge in the Winter afterwards. His videography is BRILLIANT and priceless. So thankful we found Atelier Pictures.

Jonathan was the Videographer for our elopement/wedding ceremony. He did an amazing job, and we were beyond happy with the film. The cinematography was so beautiful and artistic with such high quality - it's like seeing a big-screen movie with us in it. Yet, his offered package was very reasonable and actually the best we found in Portland.
Most importantly, we found that he listened carefully, understood our vision exactly and made it so enjoyable and comfortable for us to work with. Our event was very brief, but he somehow managed to capture so many moments and footage that we didn't realize

I worked with Jonathan on a project to honor our Employee's of the Year around the Portland/Vancouver area for our company. He did such and amazing job capturing these folks personalities and making them feel at ease being on camera. It was such an amazing experience and all 8 videos were shown at our large Employee Appreciation Party and they were beautiful. There was laughter, tears and awe from everyone watching. Thank you Jonathan for being such a joy to work with and highlighting these well deserved employees in the best way possible. I truly look forward to working with you again!

We have used Atelier for multiple projects, and their team is great to work with. We needed to create a series of presentations throughout the course of 1 year, all of which were different locations and talent. They were able to handle both large and small environments, and were very contentious of the in the moment needs. They also made the post production process easy to share ideas and come up with the best possible finished product.

I hired Jonathan to make a promotional video for my business, and instead, he gave me something much better: a tangible, emotionally-connecting piece of brand poetry.
I've needed to get this video done for a couple of years, but I was terrified that no video production company was possibly going to 1) get me and the concept behind my idea, and 2) go the locations I knew I needed, bearing the necessary equipment.
Jonathan not only got my idea and was beyond excited about it, but he enthusiastically dragged his production gear down a slippery "trail" to a backcountry waterfall, out

Jonathan provided us with the best wedding present ever, our wedding pictures.
I never thought I would be able to get married, but when it became possible it was truly the best day of my life.

We got married 8-2-14, We hired Atelier after seeing their great work from my sisters wedding.
We couldn't have asked for better! They were incredibly knowledgeable and flexible throughout the day. They started at the salon with the girls, met us at the site for all the "prep" photos and stayed til the wedding ended! They were always there for a great photo op, and anytime i wanted a photo taken of someone they were close by to wave over! They gave lots of direction during photo sessions of family and of my husband and I.. They were also always willing to try any new photo "

I had my wedding pictures done by Jonathan. The preparation was wonderful, I felt heard and understood. the wedding day went smooth. Taking pictures was so relaxing, which is not what I expected. jon is a great guy, very relational and a calming presence. The best part is that my pictures turned out amazing! I love them. We got a leather bound photo album and it is just such a special way to keep our memories of that day available for others to see. it was put together so beautifully.
