Look no further...this is the place to go for any of your car issues! These guys are the best - so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I've been in a few times over the years and am always so impressed with the work and pleased with my experience. I just went in with a broken gas gauge and they came out immediately and quickly fixed it at a super reasonable reasonable rate and with a smile. Jim is the man! I was in and out. So grateful!

Wow, I am sorry Frank that I have not shared how great Top Shop is previously. We live in Lafayette but would be willing to go out of town if needed. I have been taking our 4 cars here for the past 5 yrs and couldn't be happier. They check our vehicles for cross-country trips and other things and keep them running great. Absolutely no upselling ever. One time, asked them to fix the gas gauge that went out and they took it out, sent it out, and unfortunately couldn't fix it after about a week. Total cost? Zero. You can trust Frank and the rest of the folks here.

Quick repair of a wheel hub and bearing assembly on a 2016 Ram 1500. $572 out the door. Parts were priced as expected. Diagnostic was $180, and dropped to $90 after service. Labor was quite high at $271 for a 60-90 minute job. Between the high labor rate and not waiving diagnostics, this shop is not cheap.
First impression: Overall happy with the service. Shop seems very technically capable. I just moved to the area however, and I'll be continuing to hunt for a go-to shop that is more economical for the simple stuff.

My wife's 2015 CRV was having starting issues. Sometimes it would start and other times, there would be nothing....although maybe after waiting it out a few minutes, it would ultimately start. As we are Albany residents, my wife took the car into EC Honda. I told her to tell them that the battery was fine, and therefore the starter must be bad. Well, they ran it through the diagnostic, and $263 later, the results were that we needed a new battery. I am always skeptical about auto shops that it's why I historically have just gone to the dealer under the false impression that they are honest. I have a newer Ford 150 and I used the WC Ford dealer. Yes, they have free popcorn and coffee but the service isn't very good and I always feel "hassled and hustled" for additional services.

Brought my 1997 Toyota "80 Series" Landcruiser to Top Shop Auto to find out a nagging but typical oil leak from my vehicle
Upon my arrival, I was greeted cordially and met with "Cam". Cam would be conducting the inspection on my 1997 Land Cruiser.
After just an hour & a half, I was invited into the shop to do a walk around of my Land Cruiser with Cam and for him to show & explain to me what he had discovered.

Top Shop Auto is truly on top of our list of places to take our Toyota Solara. Their comfortable lodge is nestled on top of a beautiful tree-lined hill with easy access, right off of Mount Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette. Robert and Paul were easy to talk with, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our dead battery was the culprit, but I mistakenly thought it was the starter motor because the battery still had voltage. The entire top shop team was very knowledgeable and was sympathetic. I had a head gasket issue which meant it was going to be a big job. They provided updates and pictures throughout the process. I normally don't trust many shops with my car but I felt it was in good hands. Definitely will be coming back. I highly recommend top shop auto.

When I initially called whoever answered took the time to ask me about my car, what I was experiencing, dove into some of the details. Upon arriving, Frank walked me through how they were going to inspect the issue. Thoroughly appreciate the sincerity of the shop, it's obvious they care and try to do right by others.
A friend originally had recommended me two years back or so. They were good to that car, and to this new one. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM (drove from San Jose).

I just learned this week that Rick is no longer working at Top Shop Auto. The reason for the change is not clear. He was the one I trusted the most so I'm giving 3 stars until I learn more about what happened.
Update to 5 star rating. Spoke with Frank the owner and I feel comfortable with him now managing the shop. First rate person.
