Blackburn Maloney & Schuppert
Since 1955, the attorneys of Blackburn, Maloney and Schuppert have provided their clients with legal solutions tailored to the individual situation or need. Whether it is sophisticated tax and estate planning, business formation and governance, adoption of children, or almost anything in between, we strive to provide the highest quality legal representation.

We measure our success by the relationships we build with our clients. Often times a client needs more than an attorney. They need an advisor, partner, advocate and ally. Our attorneys work together to ensure that our clients receive the combined experience of our legal team and to ensure that the client receives the best legal representation possible.
Services
Blackburn, Maloney and Schuppert, founded as the solo law practice of J. Gilmer Blackburn in 1955, was the first law firm to concentrate on Federal and State tax matters in North Alabama. Located in Decatur, Alabama, many of the firm's first clients were family-owned businesses and area farmers who needed help navigating the complicated tax code.
We feel that we have an obligation and a responsibility to make our community a better place through the donation of our time and efforts. All of the attorneys are actively involved in local and international service clubs, business organizations, community nonprofit organizations, and religious organizations.
J. Gilmer Blackburn was the founding attorney and senior counsel of Blackburn, Maloney and Schuppert. During his active practice, Mr. Blackburn represented a wide group of clients including banks, insurance companies, large and small corporations, family businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and foundations, many of which are still clients of the firm.
Mark Daniel Maloney, a member of Blackburn, Maloney and Schuppert, focuses primarily in the areas of agricultural law, taxation, and estate planning. Mr. Maloney provides taxation and estate planning services to a wide array of businesses and individual clients. A significant portion of Mr. Maloney's practice is devoted to agricultural law, in which he advises farmers, landowners, and related agricultural businesses.
Lynn Belt Schuppert, a member of Blackburn, Maloney and Schuppert, practices in the areas of estate and trust planning, probate and estate administration, and corporate law.

In addition to providing legal services to her own clients, Mrs. Schuppert lends her unique abilities to plan and structure individual and business transactions and draft related legal documents for other members of the firm to assist in fully and effectively representing the firm's clients and their legal needs.
