Services
There are times when traditional veterinary treatments are unable to heal our pets, and acupuncture is an alternative when Western veterinary medicines fail. Acupuncture can also be a first line of defense to certain conditions if someone wishes not to give their pet medicines or chemicals often prescribed by modern veterinarians.
Cari is the hospital manager of Gentle Care Animal Hospital. She has worked at Gentle Care since the doors opened in June of 1999. She has worked in kennel, grooming, as a vet tech and receptionist before finally becoming the hospital manager. She lives on an acreage with horses, cats and dogs; most of her pets are rescues.
Caring for our own dental health is a daily routine in our lives, including daily brushing and flossing as well as yearly cleanings and exams. Remember that our pets require regular professional dental care just like people do! Our hospital offers a thorough dental exam with every physical exam, and will make dental recommendations if abnormalities are detected.
When you must leave your dog or cat, Gentle Care Animal Hospital is the one you trust to nurture your pet and to provide you with priceless peace of mind. We pride ourselves on our safety and reliability, as each boarder is checked in using a security protocol matching pets to owners, and all pets are required to maintain specific vaccines to protect your animal and inhibit the spread of disease.
Our goal is to make a specific diagnosis and recommend a treatment plan that is both cost-effective and in the best-interest of your pet's long-term health. There are hundreds of different skin diseases currently recognized in dogs and cats. Many of these diseases look very much alike, with only subtle differences in clinical picture and historical backgrounds.

Friendly, and they dropped everything for a minor soft tissue/orthopedic emergency.
After determining that there were minor factures in the legtibial plateau and fibula they sent me away with a soft splint that didn't really immobilize the knee.
I'm not sure why all veterinarians wouldn't stock an assortment of $4 or $5 leg splints that could've been the definitive treatment in this case, while my pet was already sedated.
The care was above average, but there was a star lacking since $550 just bought me xrays, a couple of sutures, & 1 day before I needed to seek out an impossible to find knee

This used to be the best vet to take our pets. Unfortunately all the good doctors left and Dr.Sullivan is the only here. I would not trust her with any animal of mine. She has no compassion and is in the wrong business. She doesn't not explain test results or potential steps to come.. office staff has started to go down hill as well. I would really encourage people to find another vet.

I took my puppy to 3 different clinics to get help and Gentle Care was my last option. I told them what was going on and luckily I was already in parking lot just to see if they would take walk ins. She asked how close was I and when I explained to her I was in parking lot she was like ok next appointment not till 20 minutes away she could fit him in. I will was so relieved and grateful for them to expect him because I was very concerned about my puppy. 3 different clinics denied him but they fit him in. Everyone was professional and friendly and very happy to help and see Prince. Thank you Gentle

I recently visited Gentle for the first time and the visit exceeded my expectations. The techs were wonderful and everyone was so pleasant and helpful. The doctor took the time and explained EVERYTHING to me without skipping a beat. We had a 15-20 min discussion on current health of my pet and future plans that we are going execute on a timely manner to ensure effectiveness and safety for my pet. Overall rating 12 out of 10

They are caring and knowledgeable. This is a trying time for all of us and their staff has been timely and responsive to all my pet's needs. While I may have to call several times to get through, I realize there are other people sitting in their cars that may just dial faster than I do. I expect to wait, however I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes past my appointment time. I expect to wait even when we don't have a pandemic, as they drop everything for emergencies. Many times my dogs have been the emergency.

You know if I could give them more stars I would. Dr. Allen is such a phenomenal veterinarian. He took time to throughly explain things to me and after Duke's surgery. The staff is high customer service friendly, patient, and organized. They took such great care of Duke and I would highly highly recommend Gentle Care Animal Hospital. I also would like to add that it was very affordable. Vets can be extremely costly and this would in my price range and I didn't have to sacrifice quality. I can't say enough GREAT things about Dr. Allen AND staff!!!!

This is an updated review. I still think Dr. Blackburn is the absolute best Veterinarian that I've ever encountered in my 60+ years of living. I've used his female partner some when Dr. Blackburn was off. She is a competent Veterinarian. She is deliberate and focused. She is not chatty, but a more get down to business personality. She's smart, and is reasonable. She does not run up the bill with unnecessary tests. If she recommends somethings , it probably needs to be done. All of the Vet techs and kennel techs love animals. Dr Gerald Blackburn is the best vet in the entire mid south. He's been our vet for over 30 years... long enough to see his hair turn gray lol. He takes all the time you need answering any questions you may have and he asks plenty of questions to ensure your pets get the best possible care without running a ton of unnecessary costly tests. This man loves what he does and it totally shows in the care and respect given to his clients. If only all vets were like Dr B.

Gentle Care Animal Hospital is the best of the best when it comes to caring for your pet. Dr. Blackburn is the most caring and knowledgeable vets I've ever known. He saved my cat after almost losing him under the care of another vet.....and saved him from an unnecessary surgery. I also take my two Shelties to him and trust his recommendations, always! His clinic is the cleanest I've ever ever experienced and when you walk through the doors, you would never know you are in an "animal hospital". It smells as clean as it looks! 5 stars - best of the best! You can just tell

I'll be short & sweet. Gentle Care Animal Hospital is a superb veterinary clinic, led by its proprietor, Dr. Gerald Blackburn, one of the most talented & caring veterinarians I have ever known.
