I tend to tense up when I go to dentist. With a history of periodontal issues, I needed a dentist that was skilled and knowledgeable but also someone that was going to take the time to care for my individual dental needs. Dr. Thompson and her team exceeded my expectations. The team at Silver Spring Dental Arts were friendly, empathetic, patient and showed genuine care for me as a patient.
At your first visit, Dr. Thompson will listen to any concerns you may have and discuss your oral health. She will then perform a thorough clinical examination including radiographs. If needed, a panoramic radiograph will be taken to augment the examination. Following this, Dr. Thompson will discuss her findings and any treatment needed with you.

Regular dental examinations are the best way to ensure that you have a healthy smile. We start each examination with a professional cleaning so that we are able to examine your mouth and teeth closely. It is our goal to find and correct any problems before they become major ones! When we apply a dental sealant, we paint a plastic coating on top of your teeth.
Teeth whitening products use bleaches (either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide) to break stains into smaller pieces, which make them harder to see and make your teeth brighter. These bleaches do not work on all teeth, so it is important to consult your dentist before any treatment. Whitening will not be effective on caps, veneers, crowns, fillings or if the color is caused by medications or injury.

As always, my visit to Dr. Thompson's office was a positive experience. The staff maintain good covid protocols, making follow-up appointments is efficient, and the standard of dental care is exceptional. Dr. Thompson is thorough, professional, and personally engaging. Dr. Thompson has been my dentist for over 5 years and I've consistently been impressed with the quality of care she has given my aging teeth, and I've never been disappointed. Prior to yesterday's consultation I had given up hope for a tooth and crown that had broken off. But she said she could likely devise a way to restore it with a new crown, even though very little of the natural tooth was left. She laid out some likely scenarios based on whether a root canal would be needed or not. She always presents her findings in very personable ways.
