Dr. Laurence Ackerman was raised in a medical family in Berkeley, California. After graduating from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 1976, he relocated to San Luis Obispo. He has received advanced training in orthodontics, implants, oral surgery, and cosmetic dentistry. He has more than 30 years of experience serving the San Luis Obispo community.

We’ve been going to the same dental office for the last 40 years… We absolutely love going to the office… It’s clean… Everyone is professional… They keep up with the newest techniques and technology… Considering that we are in our 70s and our teeth are still doing very well considering our age… We credit that to the fact that the people in the office have always make sure that we are aware of any upcoming issues and how to avoid problems with our teeth and gums

Dr. Lapidus is "hands down" the BEST dentist EVER. The entire staff is amazing and so kind. Dr. Lapidus has had the patience of Job as he has sweetly sat next to me while I have a full on melt down multiple times, as his dental hygienists have also had to wait out my melt downs as well. I always receive outstanding service, both from the dental hygienists and the front desk assistants. Everything is always explained in detail and my well-being during my visit is always considered. If I ask for a price in advance of a future procedure, they always oblige me. Dr. Lapidus is always professional and takes time to explain my x-rays. He's very proactive, giving options for how/when to address any potential work that needs to be done. I have been with Dr. Lapidus over five years and highly recommend him as a dentist that you can rely on. His commitment to his patients is stellar!

I’m so happy I’ve found Dr Lapidus. He’s great, and also has a fantastic hygienist. Heather gives the most thorough and comprehensive cleanings I’ve ever had. But she’s also extremely careful and gentle, so it isn’t painful. I also appreciate how willing she is to share her extensive knowledge about how to make your teeth healthier. It’s not the normal lecture about flossing. Instead, it’s practical advice that you can actually use. They’re the things that no one else has taken the time to tell you about, but make a difference.
