I finally got to try this place out. Located in a strip mall right off the Palmetto.
It's a nice size restaurant with several tables and seats by the bar. The sushi and other menu items goes around the tables in a small canal on sushi boats. The sushi is made fresh along with the other items going around you just pick up the plate you wanna enjoy. Staff is friendly and helpful with the menu. They also have a menu to choose other menu items that are not going on the boats.

I'm obsessed with Shima, there's no other way to put it. I have not been able to sit down at the restaurant since before the pandemic so I mainly order through uber eats and pick up. The food is always delicious and always fresh and you can't beat the prices. Every time I go to pick up an order, the place is always packed (in a good way) with more customers waiting outside which is testament to how good the food is. My go to order is the miso soup, avocado dynamite toll, salmon nigiri and my favorite: Crunchy Spicy Tuna with a side of spicy mayo. The donuts are also delicious and

This was my first time eating at a Revolving Sushi bar and it was great. I wasn't sure how it worked at first, but the staff was friendly and happy to explain. Everything I had tasted excellent. I enjoyed it so much that when a co-worker flew in the next day I had to take them! We couldn't find anywhere that explained how the plates were priced, but it was all very reasonable for the portion size and quality.

Really a no frills Japanese place located in Hialeah. They have good sushi specials and the restaurant is kind of small so it fills up pretty quickly. My friends and I enjoyed good sushi, some drinks, and some other Japanese favorites. It was moderately priced and well done. Service is a bit disorganized but I think it's just how the concept is. Would repeat.

I was very excited to try this place after hearing many great reviews about it and I waited an hour to be seated. Unfortunately I was very under impressed at the quality and range of sushi on the boats. If you love Mayo and artificial crab this place is for you. If you love authentic sushi with higher end fish then don’t even bother coming here. Everything was mediocre and sub par. I’m still shocked at how blah my whole experience was. The over use of Mayo and artificial crab just ruined it. For having such a big fan base, this restaurant really has a lot of work to do and really could step

I've been in the restaurant business my whole life on both sides whether in the kitchen or as I am currently now managing my own. That being said, I love supporting fellow restaurants any way I can. Went to Shima on the 28th and well it's about a 45 minute drive so I was committed to trying this location with its concept of sushi boats and helping yourself.
Went on a date night with my girlfriend and we waited for about 40 minutes to be seated which wasn't much an issue. Sat down and our experience started pretty slow. Not many of the boats had sushi on them. I'm not much

I went there Labor Day 2021. Their food is really good, I could say better than their sister restaurant, but the customers in that establishment has a different vibe than the one on the beach. In that aspect the beach is better. I enjoyed the good food, the service was excellent, I just do not appreciate people bringing babies at a restaurant and let them cry and be loud. In that instance there were TWO tables with really loud crying babies, again, that's not the restaurant's fault but kinda ruined my experience dinning there. Hence, the four stars. I may go back and hope not to have crying babies

Learned about this from TikTok and we caught it at just the right time. Must get there right at opening or else you'll be waiting outside for a free table. The conveyor boat sushi was an exciting experience and new dishes were constantly being put out. The choices were varied but a bit basic-- seaweed salad, California rolls, JB rolls, and select sashimi. Our favorite was the soy paper wrapped roll. Chefs and staff wore masks and there was plexiglass covering the food. You pay by the plate and the price was reasonable for the amount of food you get. There is also an a la carte menu with entree

Great service, really nice waiters!
The fish was really fresh. We really enjoyed the salmon sashimi (thick cuts, fresh, 4 pieces per plate) and takoyaki balls (warm, octopus is the perfect amount of chewy).
I love how the plates are literally floating on boats, it was so cute!
Each plate color is a different price, ranging from 2.50 - 4.50. You can see the prices on the wall.
We went at 10pm ish at night and it was really packed just an FYI, but we were seated in about 10-15 min.

Great sushi. Takeout and dining in. They have little boats moving with the sushi plates. Servers are all very nice.
FOOD:
Sushi is good here.
Shima and Bunaken are delicious sushi rolls.
Black dragon is good too.
Thai Donuts are a must. If takeout, you can reheat donuts in microwave without a problem.

We've been coming here and usually had a good experience, but the service has deteriorated drastically. Boats are sparsely filled--which we would understand for COVID restrictions, however, they are empty because they are prioritizing takeout service not due to COVID, and rather than tell the customer, you're left waiting until you figure that out on your own. And when you decide to order the server literally hurries you up. Just not worth coming in person.

I can't believe I've been in this complex several times but never tried this place!! They just recently reopened the sushi boats (yay!) I ordered a bunch of different nigiri and was completely impressed at the freshness!
My absolute favorite was the albacore (bincho) nigiri. Their Ikura was also perfection! I did notice that their wasabi wasn't as hot as I'm used to having, not sure what was up with that but I didn't complain.
It's so hard to find sushi that is insanely fresh but also doesn't break the bank nowadays. This place is definitely a staple!

This has to be my FAVORITE sushi spot when you just want to be seated and attended to right away. I found out about this place by googling "sushi spots near me" because I wanted to go somewhere new!
And there they were, SHIMA *insert heart eyes here* and I went 3 days in a row.. the concept is awesome. They used to have boats floating in water around that middle part but because Covid, they stopped it.
It's all small plates, so 4 rolls for under $4 and it's awesome because you don't have to be committed to a full 10 piece roll! Which is what I loved, you can have a

Horrible service, food quality was way far below expectations, my friends and I went there for the shabushabu (Japanese hotpot), we saw their pictures on google map that looked completely different from what we got at the restaurant.
The miso soup was very salty, while the hotpot soup base was tasteless.
We only ordered extra udon because the waiter told us that the shabushabu doesn’t come with any noodles.
Very disappointed and feel scammed.
Paid $70 with empty stomachs walking out the door.

After searching for a Japanese restaurant on Yelp, we decided to do takeout at Shima, given the high ratings. Shima has no signage, so it may be a little hard to find. Just look for the "Sushi" sign in the stripmall...you can only see the "Shima" name once you're in front of their door.
Honestly, I don't get the high ratings. Granted, we only did take out for some rolls, so maybeeee their other food is better? I don't know, but I was not thrilled with their rolls.
