Surface Insurance Agency is an independent insurance agency that has been in business in Seymour, Indiana since 1960. Surface Insurance Agency is owned and operated by Mark Smith and Darin Kriete providing auto, home, business, and farm insurance coverages, along with bonds and term life insurance, written with several highly rated insurance companies.
Because we represent several different insurance companies we are able to search these markets and, subject to eligibility, offer a program. We also have access to insurance that is not the main stream coverage through the excess and surplus lines market.

Services
Locally owned and operated, Surface Insurance began in 1960 when Walter L Surface purchased an already established insurance agency. In 1971 Teresa Kriete was hired, while Mark Smith came onboard in 1978. Several other insurance agencies were purchased over the years. Darin Kriete joined the agency in 1994.
Mark Smith, Co-Owner-President, is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Bloomington, IN campus. After working for an insurance company as a territory marketing representative, Mark accepted an offer to work for and ultimately became co-owner of Surface Insurance Agency. Mark has his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation {CPCU} and has been in the insurance business since 1974.
