Dobrovolny grew up working cattle and baling hay on his family's Texas ranch.
Upon graduating from Bryan High School in 1993, Frank sought to serve the country he loved and in doing so he enlisted in the United States Navy. Frank served aboard the USS Rhode Island as well as the USS Nebraska, both of which are ballistic missile nuclear submarines, as a Sonar Technician. During his service, Mr. Dobrovolny held a Secret security clearance through the United States Department of Defense.
