Owner Tony Berrien is an experienced mechanic who grew up in Kailua and has been working on cars since 1972. He started Tonys Autowerks in 2009, a year after the Great Recession claimed his job at a local dealership. The drive to start his own business happened after Tony consulted with his pastor and church board members for advice about where to take his next steps in life.
Tonys Autowerks provides Safety Inspection services to Kailua, HI, Kaneohe, HI, Honolulu, HI, and other surrounding areas. Vehicle safety inspection requirements are determined by the governing body of a state or province.

Driving along when all of a sudden the battery warning light comes on. Thankfully I was in Kailua so I quickly headed over to Tony - bad alternator after 130,000 miles, can't complain.
Got it replaced and back on the road in one day at a fair price. It's easy to see why Tony's is rated 5 stars!

My locks were failing and I came across Tony's Autowerks through Yelp. I was impressed by the reviews and decided to give him a try. From the first phone call to the very end I was beyond impressed with Tony and his staff! Everything about him and his business was honest and real! He didn't a fantastic job at a fair price. I am so thankful for Tony and his family!!! My alternator went out on a Thursday night randomly. I couldn't take it to my regular mechanic in Waipahu so I looked on Yelp and found Tony. This family is INCREDIBLE. They definitely go above and beyond. He helped me with a quote and then even drove me back home so I could relax at my own house and wouldn't have to wait all day at the auto shop. Then he drove my car home to my house for me. I was so touched that they were so thoughtful. This is an incredible, honest family business and I would recommend them to anyone on island. I know nothing

I asked some friends for recommendations to get my truck repaired. Out of all the recommendations I got, only Tony's Autowerks and one other company replied to my phone calls or emails requesting a quote. The other guys said "they didn't do that kind of repair". Tony gave me a quote that was less than half of the dealer's quote (I don't think they wanted the job, as they quoted me for a new rear axle and not just the bearings that needed replacing). Great service from Tony for a great price. He identified my engines oil leak and fixed it the same day. No pressure for additional work or anything compared to other mechanics/dealerships on island. When I picked up my car he also explained what was wrong and what he fixed. Overall great service and a great business.

I had a dead battery this morning and had a busy day scheduled ahead of me. While waiting for Allstate Auto Care to come jump start me, I started calling around to get a new battery installed. The friendliness and professionalism that I received on the phone from Tonys Autowerks was amazing! They had me come in and immediately took care of my problem. I was so impressed and look forward to using them again whenever I need to have my car serviced.

The owner I Believe “Tony” Made me believe he would be able to service my car. I would like to thank Tony and his crew at Tony's Autowerks. On May 4th, after 6 weeks off island, I returned to a 2008 Prius that would not run. Tony had replaced the hybrid motor in January so I called him. I had it towed to his shop so he could check it out. When the car got to him it started right up (magic??). He immediately informed me that the car was working fine. Since my husband and I were both under the mandatory 14 day self-quarantine and he quickly offered to keep the car at his shop until we could pick it up. I called Tony and got a speedy reply and he came and picked my car up for me from work. WhichI had a broken tub on my antifreeze reservoir. He came back with the quote to replace the reservoir and I was please. Unfortunately he sent me another message with another quote saying the engine cooling fan in the front of the car was broken and probably cause the antifreeze tube to overheat and snap. I thought this was odd considering my car was not/nor had it ever overheated. I told him to just fix the reservoir and I'd take a look at the fan. We moved here from Miami Beach and did not have time to fix the breaks on our car before leaving. My husband and I have been taking our cars to Tony for repairs and maintenance for more than 15 years, back before he had a shop, when he fixed cars in the carport of his house. After a bad experience at the Firestone on MCBH, I found Tony's Autowerks on yelp. This is my second time here and they have been amazing. I've had my routine oil changes and checkups here and they've always been so kind, accomodating, and reasonably priced. I love that they are Christian folks with good honest hearts. They'll let me know if anything is wrong with my vehicle but will not pressure me to have it fixed by them. They give me advice and try to help where possible. I won't go anywhere else for car work!

We went to Tony and told him we needed a thermostat housing replacement for our car that was previously diagnosed by jiffy lube. He looked at it and a few days later came back with a hefty quote of $6000 that had a bunch of replacements and repairs we didn't see coming. We had just gotten a few parts replaced previously and so that didn't make any sense. We sent our car to the dealership for a second opinion and they ran some tests and it was just a thermostat housing replacement that was needed. Tony is amazing in diagnosing and trouble shooting automotive problems. From a mother's perspective, Tony ensured that my daughter's automobile was properly repaired while her husband was away. Took my car to Tony for a new clutch, and couldn't be happier. Tony wrote out and sent me an estimate, and was extremely easy to schedule with. He was able to fix a few other long - standing get issues with my car as well. He was great at communicating through both text messages and talking over the phone.

Tony is a standup guy. As a female I often find myself feeling like I am being taken advantage of, or lied to in an auto shop. This is not the case here. Tony (and his wife) really care about giving your car what it needs and you feel at ease in his presence. He did some extra little things for my car while it was being serviced by his technician at no cost to me. I left knowing that this is my new mechanic. I had finally found the spot.
