Penny's Noodle Shop
Founded in 1991, Penny's Noodle Shop opened its doors bringing the Pan-Asian food craze to Chicago. Over 25 years of Fast Fresh Delicious Thai food. From day one, Penny insisted on using all her own tasty recipes made fresh from scratch daily. This includes all of the sauces used to prepare each appetizer or entree all the way down to the homemade soup broths simmering daily.

Recently we have also incorporated a number of gluten free options throughout our menu. Rest assured, while your food may take a litter longer to prepare, we insist on preparing the food the way Penny has always cooked for her family and friends! Japanese Gyoza - Pork and minced vegetable stuffed dumplings, fried and served with a soy dipping sauce infused with rice vinegar and ginger.

It's really sad for me to write this review. I've been going to Penny's for 25 years at different locations and we order from them almost weekly. This week, I ordered dinner and went in to pick it up, only to see the two owners / managers working the kitchen and dining room without masks. Packing up food, interfacing with customers and staff, maskless. I asked the manager why they weren't using masks, and he replied "it's not a law." I got a refund on my order and left. Peace out, Penny's. Sorry to learn that you need a law to care about the well being of

The service was good but this place reminds me of a Chipotle restaurant. In other words they are trying to create a "clean" version of asian food which I object to. We ordered the Pad Tai chicken for $12.99 and they charged $2 extra for the chicken. The noodles were not seasoned well and overcooked with cilantro. The second dish was the roasted pork. It was very dry with undercooked rice. It came with a small salad which was the most delightful of the $55 bill. The next dish was the satay chicken which was not fresh. The peanut butter sauce was creamy, but it didn't help the chicken taste any better

Their beef soup is just pho. Taste same as pho. Again same noodle. Why bother to call it beef soup noodle and cost 13$ for this cheap taste!!!

So disappointed. I have ordered from Penny's Noodles in the city in the past; even dined-in recently. It was not at the top of my list, but ok.

Today I placed an order of Pad Thai Noodles with shrimp for pickup and literally all I got was noodles upon opening the container. I was really not happy, to say the least. I phones the restaurant and was transfer to whom I would assume is the manager on duty today. I told him my issue and stated that I wanted it corrected. Instead of rectifying the situation, he begins to tell me what goes in PadThai...really!!!
I know what goes in Pad Thai and

Wow! Lives up to the reputation. First visit but sure not to be the last. The chicken pad Thai was excellent, with grilled chicken flavor. The hot spicy noodles they recommended were also amazing and the gyoza we're delicious as well. Dang good and real quick for takeout.

The service is great! I went here on a Thursday night about 45 minutes before the kitchen closed. They didn't rush us at all. I ordered a veggie noodle soup. It was good, but I feel it needed more veggie flavor. I really miss the local Vietnamese pho restaurant. I was spoiled by their food. Nonetheless I ate all my bowl because it was ok, and I was hungry. I will definitely come back.

Recognizing Penny's Noodle for Outstanding Customer Service. Had a problem with order after opening at home. Called back to restaurant to explain situation, a momentary hold to confirm order #, took my information to replace order immediately or at a later time.

A long time family favorite. Never disappoints. Staff is always nice and welcoming. One time a pickup order had an error and they were kind in fixing it, upon request. Been going here for 10+ years and only ever had that one mistake. Recommend pad se eu with tofu!!!

A casual restaurant on the corner with a variety of different Asian cuisines. Thai food dominates the menu, but the dishes I tried have slight differences compared to other places (not a bad thing). Huge portions and they do not skimp on the proteins. There's lots of tables for seating and the service is very fast. Decor needs a make over if you are dining in, but the place is clean. I used to eat at the Sheffield location back in the day, so I'm happy to see another location closer to home! I recommend trying a variety of dishes and dining family style!

Going off my first time being here, it was ok. There was a decent amount if people dining inside. Me and my friend sat down like 45 min before closing and left a little later than closing time and they were very nice about it.

Crab rangoon: These were good! No complaints. They were more creamy on the inside with less imitation crab. I like when crab rangoons look like my picture rather than your typical ones they serve you at chinese restaurants. They just look more appealing. They were pretty big in size too.

Red curry rice plate: I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and I've never tried

I have been a long time penny's noodle lover of over 25 years in the city however this last visit to OP left me a bit disappointed. The pad thai I recently picked up was overly brown with sweet soy like the pad se eiu. It used to be fresh, full of delicious noodles and crunchy veggies and peanuts with a little acid from the lime- a delicious option for people who are sick of thai places cheating with orangey (ketchupy) pad thai. Im wondering if they are losing consistency in their dish prep.

They aren't doing indoor dining either as of end of March. When asked if there's a date

I have enjoyed Penny's for over 25 years! I originally found them in Chicago, but on a recent trip to Oak Park, I was thrilled to see them. Nothing better than their bbq pork and egg noodles. Sweet and savory dish. Don't forget to add the hot chili sauce!

I don't live in Illinois anymore and miss Penny's Noodles all the time. When my brother moved to Oak Park I made sure to recommend it, and lucky for him he just lives a few blocks away. The food is consistently delicious, and I don't know of anything anyone has ordered that hasn't been good, but I always go for the same: hot. pepper. noodles. Forever and always.

Huge disapointment off a advice to try this joint out.

Ordered Pad Thai.

Dry, flavorless, awful.

Middle age manager had a unprofessional attitude.

In a nutshell, YIKES ! Pass it up,save your bitcoin and be grateful you did.

My husband and I were getting tired of all our usual delivery spots and have wanted to try this place. Ordered 2 beef noodle bowls and it sounded so yummy. What a disappointment. The beef was tough, there was about 700 pounds of noodles, and the flavor was nasty. Such a waste of money. We threw most of it out and were still hungry afterwards. Never again.

They do delivery with Door Dash, our driver was not wearing a mask when he came to our door. Though the food was ready quick and arrived at our door fast.

There was hope of a delicious meal, but that was not the case. The Spring rolls were overpowered by the Thai basil, and lacking of much else than noodles. The crispy rolls were nice. The Pad Thai was just gross, it had a bad smell and tasted like the smell, did not even try to eat it. All sauces were runny and limited of flavor.

Short Review: We ordered the Crab Rangoons, Red Curry rice dish with beef and the Pad Thai with chicken. All of the food was very delicious, the service was great and we definitely recommend this place for a casual and tasty Thai food stop.

Long Review: Me and my boyfriend were walking around Oak Park because it was a beautiful night and were looking for somewhere to eat. It was about 9pm and we decided to stop in this little joint to switch it up from the typical pizza and wings. When we walked in we were informed that the kitchen was closing soon so if there was anything we wanted we should

Cucumber salad had maybe five pieces of cucumber and was mostly bean sprouts, cabbage, tomato, and carrots. I've had the Japanese gyoza before and they've been tasty but this time it was a bit soggy. The pad se eu was pretty good with tofu.

The food is average but isn't a bad choice for take out.

Couldn't get a picture of the food because it is way to darn good! Started going to Penny's when they opened in Bucktown/Wicker Park area and still coming to the Harlem location today. Love, love, love their food! Tried a variety but my favorite is the hot pepper noodle with chicken. However, I substitute my noodles for vermicelli noodles instead of the wide ones. Absolutely one of my favorite dishes and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend the beef salad as well. IF YOU HAVE YET TO TRY PENNY'S, GET IN THERE TODAY, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING!
