Located at 88 Wales Street in Taunton, MA, Bar 88 & Grille offers a classic traditional atmosphere that is intimate, warm, and inviting for all to enjoy. The building has historical significance to the City of Taunton, as the foundry of a stove business in its early beginnings. Then, the well-known Anthony's 88 and later the Red Whippet.
Our comprehensive transformation began inside with shades of warm Mahogany throughout and accentuated by an Oak bar giving the atmosphere an old-world vibe. We went back for another live band event last night- and decided we will try it once more.
We have to say everything was really good. Our guests (first time there) enjoyed their food.
Everything was hot, waitress was excellent, drinks were good (good sangria!). We did not get pics of the veggie burger but our friend said it was really good.
We did notice this time other tables were getting a smaller pizza than what we had received in our last visit- which is appealing. Will go back and try pizza again if we can get the smaller size.

I did not eat at this establishment however I did order food from there. I ordered the clam chowder which I have to say was absolutely terrible. For whatever reason, it was a yellowish color, contained barely any potatoes and one piece of clam. The chowder was also very salty and had a watery consistency. I added the oyster crack

Shame on me for coming back here a few more times since my first review, when not 1 time was the food ever good and the service is the worst. The waiter I had to deal with here the last time was the worst, and basically didn't acknowledge anything I said and also had no type of personality. With his mad face, and poor attitude he seemed like he was part of the security team that was asked to wait on tables because someone called out. We went to bar 88 on a Sunday. They were having a bogo sale on pizza from 4 to 5pm and The 60s Band started at 5 o'clock. Management was clearly not prepared for the response to these double events however the staff remained calm and did an amazing job of playing catch-up. From this point on the service was prompt and friendly. The beer selection is fair. The pizza is of the flat bread variety cooked in a wood fired oven and is very tasty. There is a very nice outdoor patio. On this day parking was tight but probably ok on a normal day.

Was sick of the same old, same old and on a whim we found this gem on Yelp and decided to try it. Sooo happy we did. The food is phenomenal. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was next level stuff! We also ordered the cornbread taco pizza which I promise is even better than it sounds! A+ for this place! We'll definitely be back!

We went this past saturday night and got there at 6:30 and there was only one other table occupied. The waitress started with I have to tell you what we don't have. 2 flags now!!! The menu had american pub food and then a selection of Lebanese which to me makes no sense but I love Lebanese. I got the chicken kabob with rice and veggies and to say it was not good is an understatement. We also got Lebanese dumplings which was also not good and even the burger my husband got was awful. Went to try it out a few months ago as they are very close to my house. You walk in, its very dark. Wood everywhere. There was no one there and it was a Saturday evening. Not a good sign. The food was too over priced for what you get. The bar tender was a fairly older lady that didn't know how to make one of their signature martinis that was featured. I'm scared to go back.

I really enjoyed going to Bar 88. The appetizers were delicious, the food was great, especially the brick oven pizza! If you want a great drink you have to try their Del's Lemonade "Adult Beverages ". It's very hard to have just one. And if you bring the kids, they can have regular Del's Lemonade. It's definitely a hidden Gem!!!

Bar 88 is caught perfectly between two worlds. On the one hand, you can smell the wood grain when you walk in the door. Wood grain that reflects a long, proud Taunton history. The bar is substantial. You can feel the weight of it when you approach.

The pizza area outside is just so much fun! The thin crust is cooked perfectly. The sangria's are out-of-this-world!
They are redoing the dining room. We went for Valentines day dinner with group of friends. The Hugs & Kisses Martini's are a MUST!
I can't wait to go back and see the new setup. Margarita's on 2/22 is on our agenda! YUMMMM
